did i mention, i received a card from Pui san, Winglam, joan and uncle dell, and a surprise card today from Tim? puee and tim r studying in UK, wing lam is not freezing in hong kong and uncle dell and joan probably just returned to their rocklin home with a christmas tree in tow. really thankful for your cards :) this year, i have spared the ritual of writing cards. mb new year alright?

and today was camp reunion. sariputta gals all wore the Same Same But different shirt. and xiong was trying hard to convince us that only ah bengs wear that shirt. oh well. we shall revolutionise the wearer of this shirt.

camp reunion was alright. video was funny. plenty of left-over food.

then christmas party at terence's place. woah. food food and more bbq food. his dog is pretty noisy, but probably she is not used to so many strangers in the house and is still a young dog - 1year and 1month.

tmr is time to paint the house. i m in charge of shifting the furniture for my dad and brother to paint. it will be a tough christmas eve tmr.

HAPPY 22nd BIRTHDAY MR. Yeo SONGJIE!

Merry Christmas everyone!
thanks to Winglam, Pui San, Joan and Uncle Dell for your Christmas cards :)

Was in Bintan from Monday to Wednesday. My dad was right. Monsoon season. Out of the 3 days we were there, it rained 2 days. only on the last day was there any sun. got sun burnt on my shoulder. i want to go swimming again. ms chay, we need to go swimming and get our tan :) don't worry. promise no JAWS in the pool.

tmr, sat, will be our camp reunion at Manjusri at 845.

hazel has topped her school for n levels. i also don't know how she does it. congratulations!

hi everyone,
so much to blog abt. let me pick from my random thoughts

1. uncle dell and joan, do you remember the Build-A-Bear shop where we built our blue and red bears and printed their certificates? it is now in Singapore, in this big shopping centre called Vivo City. We got to go there when u come by. it is this humongous new shopping centre near Sentosa (not quite near, will have to explain to u verbally)

2. i met up with siu and kc today. we talked a lot as usual. siu is flying off again. can tell all 3 of us are enjoying our hols :)

3. seeing more of my sariputta gals. and we are getting along all too good. jiayi is in korea. been talking to mich, dumble-DEE and sel. we are looking forward to many good and new stuff coming up!

4. i have 9 new goldfishes, after my unfateful encounter with 100 ikan billis.

5. i have grown the fattest in 8 years.

6. merry christmas!

Reflections for camp ehi-passiko 2006 Sequel

Alright. i m back from camp. from day 0 to day 4 today. it has been yet another experience for me. my very first camp was last june, when i was a camper, dec when i was a group leader, this june when i was in the games team and this time round, i was vice camp mistress.

i must say each experience has been an enriching experience and gave me an opportunity to see the running of the camp. each role gives me a further insight into how everyone works together.

being an organisor means taking the big picture in sight, and not burrowing into details. means giving instructions and not taking instructions. means knowingwhat you want and having an idea in your mind, instead of working out your final destination as you work on the process. means visualising what you want.

firstly, i want to thank the campers. without their participation and enthusiasm, there would be no camp. without their understanding, patience and co-operation, we would have had a tougher time. seeing them enjoy the games and the cmpafire truly made me realise again what i was doing all these for.

secondly, i would like to thank Mrs. Cheng, teacher-in-charge who worked with us. she could have chose to wash her hands off a lot of things. but she was really dedicated and was always ready to help us and go through all the trouble for us. and i really enjoyed talking to her. seeing how happy she was, looking at the campers enjoying the camp, further made me realise again what we were doing all these for.

thirdly, i would like to thank all the group leaders this time round. having to get the keys from me each time you want to visit your bunk, being really responsible and at the same time enthusiastic to provide such a wonderful camp for everyone.

next, i have to thank the 4 heavenly kings, the 5 tiger generals, the logistics team, the realms , the messing group and everyone. without your company, this camp would not have been so enjoyable. without your help, the camp could not have run on smoothly. without your witty ideas and thinking on your feet, the camp could not have been less trouble-free.

i would say the toughest part of the camp would be enduring little sleep ad maximum fatigue. but i believe the group leaders, logistics team, messing team, and everyone else were more tired than i was.

lastly, i just want to thank our camp mistress, kaiyi. she has been really nice and understanding towards me and i enjoyed working with her. she has taught me many things in running a camp, or a project in general, which i had overlooked. she has been really patient with me and i just want to give her a big THANK YOU.

and to all of you reading this, i would not have been able to participate in such a camp without your support and understanding throughout this whole time. thank you very much.

time to bathe and rest! Sadhu sadhu sadhu!

last paper! TWC. technology and world change. on a saturday afternoon.
c u in a while!

Wednesday, November 29, 2006

dear all,
it is wednesday and i m down with my three big papers. biggest coming up. this exam period is passing so slowly. argh. why why why? exams used to pass so quickly. like -Flash!- and ya i did not use to read my notes. but now, i can't get down to reading my textbook and have read my notes. think it is always good to prepare notes so days like these.

and thanks to mr yeo, i realise i have 2 mistakes in my finance paper already. oh well. probably more. up to the profs to mark my ugly handwriting.

oh how am i goign to study for Accounting Info System? the previous years AIS exams were Multiple choice questions. but with our new prof, it is 4 long questions, each 25 marks, over total of 3 hours. oh man. so many things to read and study. promise no more than 3 exams a semester from now on. 4 is stressing yourself out. 5 is insane.

Saturday, November 25, 2006

sun, mon, tues, wed, thurs, fri, sat.

holidays start after AIS on fri noon. 20% AIS on sat? take it as it comes.

that leaves me with - 5 days to studies, 7 days to my real holidays.

11 days to CEP

12 days to mama's opening.

all happening within the next 2 weeks. and yet this week and next week will probably be the longest and most tragic and tough-to-endure weeks. and the holidays will zoom past, as usual.
haha taking a levels every 6 months.

this morning i woke up with the feeling that i don't like university life. i like the people, but the education regime is very different from government schooling. this probably arose after talking to wing lam on the phone last night. things keep changing. no ten year series (haha ironic) i guess i don't like it cos i have to apply what i learn, which we have not been doing for the past decade of schooling. ironic.

on the other hand, university is where i have more/less time to myself. meet people.

let me share with u a story abt a lonely fish. once upon a time, he shared a fishtank with 8 other parrot fishes.he bullied, bit, head-butted all the other fishes. poor fishes were bruised. there was one who dutifullly ignore him by shovelling sand from one end of the tank to the other, but this fish chose to injure him. one by one (or even three by three), these fishes passed away. guess what? this fish was all lonely.
and now, when it passed away, it ended up in a lonely death.

yup. my last parrot fish died. in clear view of everyone at home. he was old and fat and lonely. but he was ferocious as well. my maid is sad over its death. my dad switched off all the filters and stuff. sounds like plugging someone off a life machine.

think tmr, if i m going to go to the market (a very big IF), i m going to get (i) fishes to take up my fish tank and (ii) flowers to put in vase at home - this was an efficient way to destress during a levels. hope this still works.

and after tmr, i m goign to live day by day. first is income tax. then when income tax is over, i will worry abt company law. not too much time to worry over company law. then finance. breather before AIS. then slight holiday. and TWC. and hols. whee. can't wait.

itinery:
Camp Ehi-Passiko
buying christmas cards with wing lam
goign cycling with her (both of us are getting fat)
eating buffets
going to sentosa, east coast
running, swimming

seems like a lot of time? i doubt half the list will be fulfilled haha.

tata. till we meet again - everyone float and stay alive!

mid exam crisis time!
time passes real slow this week
updates:
ms chay has busted her knee. oh no. i hope not serious. but i doubt it. pls update me.
besides that, nothing fantastic is happening in my life.

psle. haha my mum is still an avid supporter of my primary sch. top scorer 281 from raffles girls primary. i can just guess where she is going next.

highest scorer for ai tong sch is 280. congrats boy/girl. welcome to this world man. life starts with getting ur psle.

and my mum has reservations at her restaurant by ai tong sch and st nics for the teachers to celebrate psle results. or maybe, to celebrate yet another batch of faceless graduating students, who are on to better (or worse?) things in life :)

look ahead. look far far ahead. my gp tutor says it is better where she is teaching, than where she taught me. cos students like me don't appreciate her. after we graduate, we forget all these ppl who have been such great influences in our lives.

humans have such forgetful memories. or is it just me?

no more classes. exams now! bring it on!

was studying today. and day dreaming. abt many many things.

this semester has been a relatively ok one. no levine. company law was not as bad as i had expected after business law. income tax was scary though. finance was slack. AIS? din know what has been goign on since week 1. twc was intense. and interesting. a lot of readings!

and uncle dell is coming to singapore! but that is like 3 months away. nonetheless, it is something we can all look forward to. uncle dell, do u know many of my friends have heard of u, after elmo and reading on the blog. haha u r a "celebrity". of course they know abt speedy too. i need to publicise joan and mona lisa more haha

exams - what will come out? somehow, a lot of readings. and calculations wise, i m not very confident either. i need a break man. hang out with wing lam and my cousins. chalet. sbm. camp.

today was reading the newspapers. and there was a feature on teenagers. guess what they hope to do during their holidays?

"shopping"
"go zouk with their friends" mind u, this gal was only 15 and the legal age limit is 18

and these were the excuses ven mahinda mentioned before. new year resolutions of "becoming a millionaire" in the next year. frivolous. yet we are doing it. i see myself doing it. and i feel wierd saying i need a break by going shopping. the thought of it, whether i go on it or not, always makes me wonder what i m actually thinking.

and my AIS prof, on the last lesson, mentioned 2 important things

1. do u know what google can do to u? google has always been viewed as a good thing to me. and still is. convenient. returns relevant results to me. but for technology and world change module, we actually did a case study on google business model. sounds cool right? i din expect so much study on something that is so easily accessible to so many people.

2. why blog? if thoughts are meant to be private? why blog? when search engines can sieve through your blogs and show ur private thoughts to so many people whom u may not know. oh well, guess there is this innate thing inside us who wants to show.

and of course. GST is up to 7%. whee. inspired by ryan's blog. oh well. ultimate consumers bear the brunt while corporations who earn our money pay less taxes. who suffer? we do. i shall start a corporation soon and stop existing as an individual.

USA President Mr. George Bush is in Singapore. and he was hanging ard my sch all the time yesterday. mb that explains the traffic jams.

Wednesday, November 15, 2006

I was contemplating whether to come for class today. Basically it would be a waste of time. But heck. Here I m. and guess what made my day?

The security guard at school of business. I actually did not really see him. But when he saw me, he kinda expected me to greet him. Which I did. My face kinda broke into a smile. And I realize I was not smiling. Hmph.

And I finished listening to the wonder car of the future. Now I m listening to the wonder disposable cup.

This is the last week of school. I doubt I can finish studying for exams. Argh. And CEP is coming. Exciting.

And after that, I only have 0.5 day to myself J

Then Chinese new year! Haha I am going crazy. Again. I haven’t been out of my house for 1.5 days.

Monday, November 13, 2006

monday morning

i m in smu library. printing my income tax report. now i m in the last stage of my cold - persistent coughing. haha.

last AIS lesson. then dinner. whee. haha

siu needs to get a wireless modem. i know nuts abt internet.

Thursday, November 09, 2006

I just finished my finance presentation! after listening to all the horror stories, which tally with one another, we actually had a smooth presentation. haha. pfizer. make or break.

tmr is income tax test. i dunno how i m going to sit for the paper. imagine seeing the paper and getting a headache. thinking of taking the paper on tuesday. but, that means i will have to study for another few days, including over the weekend. 10%. hmmm. trade-off.

shd i study income tax tonight? argh. i forgot everything i did on mon and tues. hmph.

Wednesday, November 08, 2006

Uncle Dell,

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ELMO! it is now the rage in shunfu road. Lionel waited for me to come home before unwrapping. he took utmost care to remove the tape and open the box. and when we switched it on, lionel and i just sat on the floor and laughed. literally head over heels. wish i could start rolling on the floor too. I m going to bring to sch and show to all my frens. hope this will make everyone join the SF laughter club. i can be the president with Elmo :)

and thanks puee, for the email. i hope u get ur internet soon.

little things that warm your heart :)

On to finance presentation!
hi everyone :)
i had two of the best breakfasts yesterday and the day before :) little things that warm your heart when the going gets tough.

this coming monday will spell the winding down of this semester. whee. so soon. less than 3 months and a semester has passed. time to look back and look at what i have learnt - revise for exams! :)

was at the national library yesterday to do income ta research. now my life is full of income tax. i culd drown in it. i wish i could compute income tax for my parents. if u want me to compute ur income tax, beware the taxman. i may omit certain tax reliefs/ rebates u r entitled to, or omit some taxable income you have to be taxed on. haha, and there is group relief :)

finance presentation tmr. can't wait for it to be over. i enjoyed working with my finance group. but i think i have had enough of the financial ratios of pfizer :) viagra anyone?

did u know viagra was manufactured to treat cardiovascular diseases?

check out dogs' mutiliation caused by animal testing of viagra on these dogs by pfizer.

and good luck my brother, for ur o levels.

Monday, November 06, 2006

it is that time of the year. when i suddenly realise how impt gpa-s are. and start worrying abt my gpa.

i want to go for internship with merrill lynch to hong kong. i wish my birthday was not in july. then again, i wish for my birthday to be in july.

i have been trying to change my mindset saying results are not everything. haha my dad asks me to do a good report when i told him i had a report due at 12 midnight last night (sunday night).

i m just grumbling. it is AIS class now.

Sunday, November 05, 2006

Singapore has an ageing population. This evening, when I came home from Piano lesson, there were so many elderly folks hanging ard the mama shop, probably because of the funeral downstairs. At least more than 10 old ppl.

and i reaffirm my support for chelsea. why? cos i like drogba. why? i also dunno why. i only ermember seeing him in a clown/joker's cap when chelsea won last season.

and finance report is more or less done. in 2 hours' time. now to start on income tax report and income tax test on friday. i don't want to lead this kind of life when i go to work.

overall, this has been a sad weekend. i don't look forward to the upcoming week.

Friday, November 03, 2006

Siu, congrats on passing ur driving test! now u can zoom ard in ur lexus and drive ur sis to sch and drive me ard :)

alright. income tax project and finance presentation left. income tax workshop and test. argh.

oh yes. and twc write-up. thank goodness we did case study instead of business plan. woot

been a busy/ok week. going to start biding for next year's classes again. how fast time passes. and all u o levels and a levels, it will be over soon. and just do ur best. the initial euphoria after ur exams shd be enough to sustain u till u reach university haha. i dunno what i m saying again. :)

and yes, my jc class having gathering tonight. can't go. tmr morning have class. and it is the sat i told myself last week i wanted to go swimming. grrr.

and i missed yesterday's shanghai trip gathering as well. oh well.

good luck rachel, when u reach SF. SF is a nice place :)

stomach ache
backache
head ache

toothache?
heartache?

i need a new shell. a new identity.

then again, i like being myself. who else has such great family and friends and so many things in the right place?

haha one smart person once said, "only a person who is loved will know how to love other ppl",
headache

i m gettin old. and fat.

and i don't see a future. time for armaggedon.

Sunday, October 29, 2006

good sunday morning.
can't sleep.
woke up and emailed kc.
then went to market with dad. dad is nice to talk to, most of the time. and so is mum. so we just talked abt giving up on studies haha. dad sometimes uses reverse psychology.

saw 3 wedding cars on teh road. all three were mercedes. one was accompanied by a honda accord; one by a PINK bmw (yes pink Be-My-Wife), and another was a solitary mercedes driving out of my estate. Tis the season to be married Far-la-la-la-laaaaaa la-la-la-la

i need my tea. i m tea addict. mb i din sleep well cos of tea yesterday. both teas yesterday tasted wierd.

Saturday, October 28, 2006

saturdays are not meant to be spent in school.

i want to go swimming next saturday. if no twc mtg that is.

this week, ais and finance reports due. good. income ta report and finance presentation left. then EXAMS! *horor*

don't i just complain incessantly abt the same few things?

Friday, October 27, 2006

alright everyone. weekend is here. week 10 is over. bring it on week 11.

andy lau is in sg. tank is in sg. S.H.E. is in sg. cool.

and this weekendis a busy at sbm. tmr's Chief Reverend's memorial service. Sunday is kathina day. i have to spend my sat in sch again. time to tie up projects. i will try to make it down on sunday.

and i had so much fun reliving and going thru all my SF photos with my frens. I realised i haven't shown my overseas photos to my frens! aiks!

and i jus want to say a big THANK YOU to ms chen siu siu, for enjoying a sugar rush and a long-awaited chit-chat session. no one ever told us the going would get so tough. and u have a dream. u see urself doing what u want to do. may your interest keep u going.

and to pui san, i will try to get starhub broadband over to u in uk. but in case i don't makeit before ur internet comes, don't piss over it anymore alright? thinkabt ur skiingin dec. so nice. i wish i could ski too....

to mr yeo, study hard, run hard, and live life even harder! may the force of the anakin skywalker (he is cute!) be with u!

and to my beloved brother, studyhard. the end is in sight for all of us. and the end is often the start of something else.

Wednesday, October 25, 2006

twc presentation

5 presentations today. my group is the fourth. no matter how much i tell myself i m not goign to get nervous over it, it just arises.

and i m sleepy and tired. how can i divert my energy to giving a presentation? but i guess when i go up there, i will.

thanks to everyone who has wished me luck.

and uncle dell, i m sure u would have passed the piano exam anytime. i wish u were my examiner. tho i think found some resemblance between 2 of u. perhaps that is why he let me pass :)

good evening senor and senorita,

the examiner was nice. and i thank everyone who has been praying for me.

cheers and kudos.

projects projects projects.

fat fat fat.

Monday, October 23, 2006

this morning, i met a gal called nina at macdonalds. she was really cute and played with us. She even showed off her sunglasses. nice to meet u nina.

those good old days in SF. was looking thru the photos yesterday. and somehow i had this nostalgic/deja vu feeling yesterday. when i landed in shanghai, i was excited. even more excited wen i landed back in sg airport. most excited when i landed in SF international airport. Whee! there was uncle dell and zeze waiting for us at the airport. We had landed in the land of freedom! America! Whoo! then eat and sleep and live comfortably.

golden gate bridge, fisherman's wharf.

i want to go work and travel in usa too. ahah. try our best alright?

time to start rushing for projects. chugga choo choo!

oh yes. the haze. is making us fat. cannot exercise outdoors. my eyes are irritated. i have sore throat. but i m glad i don't have asthma or respiratory problems.

Uncle dell and zeze, coming back to sg for chinese new year? this year's CNy is pretty late. mid feb.

Wednesday, October 18, 2006

alright. tmr marks the first paper for my brother. o level science practical. and he is memorising his cations and anions on the bed while i m typing this. all the best! i would impart some brain matter to u via al l the infra red ard us right now.
jay jay jay jay jay-ded

have u noticed how u can stare in the morning sun now? cos it is so freaking hazy.

and there is so much happening. and i hope everything is over before i have a chance to see it passing by. before i have a chance to breathe.

i have so much things to do, yet so much time. how come?

take things in perspective man.

congrats siu. i m so going to publicise ur good grade for coy law. congrats once again.

as for not-so-ideal results, i guess prof jusified our results by comparing with the standard she requires of us.

jay jay jay jay jay-ded

happy 18th october

Monday, October 16, 2006

i wish, i wish, i wish.
many wishes have come true. many have not too.

and now, i wish to open an art class. to learn how to draw flowcharts.

i wish to box something, someone.

i wish , i wish, i wish.

Sunday, October 15, 2006

alright. back. no meeting. miscomm.

when my bro and i went to take bus to sbm, we were shrouded in the haze. yes, teh haze is scary. i can smell burnt smoke in my hair. horrible.

sk commented why i wear so informal to sbm. sbm shirt, berms and slippers. i guess after 3 camps, most ppl at sbm have seen the ugliest side of me.

and yes plenty of homework to do.

my brother takes good care of me. he makes sure i drink enough water :)
good morning to u on a sunday morning.

promise i will go fix up my tagboard when i m free. i do not know what is wrong. pls send me an email if u know what is wrong.

and i m going down to sbm today. soon. in a while. camp meeting at 1.

end of mid term break. my dad jus asked me how were my exams. how was my piano exam.
left one more AIS report to hand up tmr. by 12 noon. both hard and soft copy. at least there are 15 pages in line.

and then TWCwill come. haha I have really got the most 'hardworking' profs for all my sucject. and I have an exam for every single module. i dunno if u judge ur effort by the process or the outcome. but i guess a reasonable yardstick would be the outcome - our grades. then again, grades aren't everything, as i push aside every responsibility for my studies. at least we studied? hard enough?

been led by the nose by this education system for the past 13 years of my life. studying hard and getting good grades is one thing. yet whether u study hard or not, u will still reach the same destination. so why study?

fatalism is such a scary thing. fallacy.

Saturday, October 14, 2006

it is saturday morning. and i m in school doing my twc project.

ais project is kinda over. siu is proofreading 15 pages of nonsense. as kc says: SISO. shit in, shit out.

me, siu and kc went to daiso yesterday. fun. and had carl's junior with kc, chris and sj.

and i have 2 days of mid term break left. finally. after a supposed mid term break.

and finance prof released results for all his finance classes. out of 193 students he has, only 8 got > 90. 42 got 80-89.5. i doubt i m in those bands. haha i m diving deeper and deeper into the rat race.

for twc, we have to do 3 case studies. google, barnes and noble and airbus. so exciting. much excitement over google and airbus recently. but my principal assigned project is barnes and noble. so exciting.

sch is certainly 'so exciting', if not for my friends :)

Thursday, October 12, 2006

good morning.

today is thursday.

my mid term break is almost over. but this is the first day i m at home. nonetheless, at least there is no school.

study income tax. i m jus procrastinating my agony. heard this paper would be hard. doesn't give me a reason not to study, although i have been thinking what is the point of studying if it is gonna be hards. whether or not u study, high probability i can't do.

and why is my tag board not working? hmmm.

and yes google bought you tube. as well as all its legal lawsuits over copyright issues i guess.

smart ppl who came up with you tube. with all their laudes in tow.

and google prob has the money to pay and wind up all the lawsuits.

and google wants to buy facebook too. but that harvard guy still refuses to budge. prob semtimental value over business acumen. wants to be his own boss and not working for others.

oh google ah google. smart ppl's congregation. need an accountant? i will make sure no enron. i m too honest, being bred in sg.

Wednesday, October 11, 2006

i was disgusted by an uncle who littered on the bus last night. and it made me think about the cleaners who clean up our school and in my neighbourhood.

i was talking to this cleaning auntie in school one day.

laura: auntie what time do u end work?

auntie: soon. 4pm.

laura: wah auntie, so early ah. go home and rest

auntie: i have to come to sch at 6am. have to wake up at 4 am. very tiring.

and these aunties have a hard time mopping the floors, cleaning the toilets. don't blame them for using too much bleach to clean up. talk to them as often as possible.

and i got to know a security uncle in sch of biz. dunno if he knows me. but at least i say hi and good morning to him when i meet him.

and there are these aunties, no longer workers from bangladesh, who clear rubbish in my neighbourhood. the govt is outsourcing the cleaning jobs to private contractors. and sometimes i wish i have an opportunity to talk to this particular auntie, who walks ard briskly pushing the rubbish truck.

sometimes i feel sad when i see elderly folks still working at their age. no doubt singapore has an aging population. and the govt hopes to see self-reliance on our part to take care of ourselves. but with myself having back aches and all, i really admire these aunties and uncles who are still labouring, while we complain about how thw aircon is too cool, computer is too slow, no msn...
i m going into project overdrive!
help!

i m going to hibernate tmr. don't come near me. there is still income tax test on friday which i have not started revising.

and on friday, there is income tax class, which we missed to go attend a conference by the european commission. and then i have my twc meeting. argh. takes up so much time! and my part is not settled! and there is ais project!

do u think i complain abt the same few things? can't wait for monday

Tuesday, October 10, 2006

good morning everyone!

today is tuesday, 2nd day of the term break. it is quite refreshing that we don't have to attend lessons for a week. however, the frequency of going back to school has sharply increased. which equates to no mid term break. call that fully utilising our school's resources.

i have one more exam on friday. income tax. i don't know how i m going to compute income tax.

i must say i have been getting a lot of encouragement from sbm. from ang hwee, kaiyi, zeming, michelle, selina, lindy, jiayi, forrestor! and all the house captains as well.

sos. was talking to hh last night. one of those amiable conversations where we don't spice it up with sarcasm. and we concluded that we are not necessary happy when we smile. haha psycho right?

on the other hand, smiles and laughter are probably lacking in our lives today. all stucked in the vacuum called the rat race. expectations of us are everywhere. i can look forward to the end of this semester to discharge all the responsibilities of my current modules. but what can i look forward to when i start to work? all i see is the desert in nevada where boeing dumps their retired airplanes.

life is uncertain. death is certain. changes in life are so rampant. novelties wear off. we complain abt lack of expression, lack of freedom. yet we do not stop to smell the roses along the way. appreciate all the ppl whom we love and who love us. cliched as it might sound, with so many ppl who care for us ard us, shouldn't we be counting our blessings? erally very very tough. especially when we are stucked in the matrix.

so let's not let go of each other too quickly. look on the positive side of ppl and things. and smile off our worries.
Why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide.

So we've been told and some choose to believe it.I
know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard
and answered when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that and someone believed it.
Look what it's done so far.

What's so amazing that keeps us star gazing
and what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

All of us under its spell. We know that it's probably magic.
Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that called the young sailors.
The voice might be one and the same.I

've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to be.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

the haze is back!

is that a good thing or a bad thing?

i tried to convince sj that last night's 'smoke' was due to the kids in the neighbourhood lighting up candles and carrying their lanterns. apparently not. my mum says the visibility has been reduced to 2 cars' length. this coming from a driver indeed.

pros of the haze:
1. my mum volunteered to drive me to finance exam this morning. her rationale is to keep me indoors (aircon) as often as possible. think there was the exam factor too. and she wants to get those air purifiers, which i told her not to. but i think she will still get it for my grandma's sake. thankfully our family is healthy and no one has had any visible violent reactions/respiratory problems yet.

2. feels like genting, albeit the warm weather, according to sj

cons:
1. poor sq has to go ard with a mask, tearing with his eyes red and spinning head.
2. will u be more affected if u live on a higher floor or a lower floor?
3. smell of chao-ta aka burning smell

today also saw many ppl in my neighbourhood getting married. one from my block and one from the opposite block. my mum says the groom is like an ah beng - he and his bestmen behave like they have never worn jackets and suits before. haha. early in the morning the bestmen and the bridesmen were shouting from teh sixth floor to the car park. i could hear them while reading finance.

not forgetting last night, while i was studying qm, i could hear those noisy sparklers even though i was in an enclosed room. mid-autumn festival is getting noisier - with all the techno music lanterns and noise-polluting sparklers. btw, HAPPY MID AUTUMN FESTIVAL! i spent the night studying for finance. so did many of my fellow finance mates.

spent an early mid-autumn party with my frens. meant to help everyone relax, in the midst of all the projects and exams. thanks to all who attended, to sj, sq, lam, ryan, and thanks to siu for sponsoring the venue.

now i am on the roll for all the exams and projects. come baby come!

Thursday, October 05, 2006

life is going to be packed until 16 oct when my AIS grp hands up our project.

by then, i would have
1. have my finance exam
2. coy law exam
3. income tax exam
4. AIS mtg(s)
5. TWC mtg(s)
6. finance mtg
7. income tax mtg

I am going to take 4 modules from now on. and take my own sweet time at graduating. but taking a longer time to graduate is more risky. so i will start taking summer terms. but even summers are limited. i think i m just useless. haha why oh why do i let these things get to me only now. i m not trying to reinforce these negative feelings in me. mb it is time to switch to a positive mindset. take things one at a time. and i cannot let my energy sap away. recharge recharge recharge

and yes hapy mid-autumn festival.

i will tick off the above 7 items as and when it gets over. so many mid-terms. next time read the course outline of the courses and the profs before bidding! haha

Monday, October 02, 2006

coy law presentation results out. income tax quiz results out.

need to get motivated to study. hmph. studying is much better than working. but it is still such a chore. taking one steps at a time now. my mum told me to work smart. think that is a little hard for me, cos i m such an idiot. need to empower myself and others. hmph.

Sunday, October 01, 2006

sunday
woke up late. 10am. so no family breakfast. so much bread at home. i asked for french toast. and my mama taught me how to cook french toast. not bad. jus that i think we added too much sugar.

lionel's version of french toast with cheese is more savory.

read AIS. then my mama and i went to buy our traditional hainanese mooncakes for my granny. haha. my mum says it is the one and only shop to sell such Hainanese mooncakes anymore.

then mama also brought me to Balestier to buy my favourite tau sar pia. must let you all eat next time. but mama says must eat on the day it is bought. which is true. crispier. over night, it will be moister. taht is why i din buy many.

then went to thomson plaza and did my own grocery haha. no white paper to print, no contact lens solution, no jotter book. then came home.

granny jus ate 2 kueh, which my mama's fren made. think she is very full. alright, gg for piano lesson soon. after i dilly dally ard home for a while. need to start revising for finance exam. let's start tonight.

Friday, September 29, 2006

Jus stumbled upon a fren's blog, which I have not seen for months. and yes ppl do change. yet some things remain unchanged. i think it is easy to be friends, when there are no expectations of returns. Sometimes we expect so much from our frens, yet our best frens are probably the ones who don't expect anything out of us. for me at least. thus being a fren is very simple. not abt living up to expectations, but doing what u want to do. enjoying the company of ur frens, and not meeting up simply cos we feel obliged to do so. thank you my friends.

and week 6 has just gone by.handed up my finance report. more work to do today.

and there is a talk on Work and Travel (study?) in the USA in summer. I want to go. but i want to come back before 1 july 2007, which is a little hard, after I look through the dates and job available. nvm. will go find out more. I want to wresle grizzly bears and feed seagulls :)

went for a talk by Boeign yesterday. we had to move froma seminar room, which houses 40 ppl, to a conference hall, which housed probably 100+ ppl? most of whom were "encouraged" to come due to teh influenc of our module, Technology and World Change. we have to do a review of a case study on Air bus, hence tehre was a lot of Airbus questions directed at the Vice President of Boeing. Haha. and he provided candid responses, though he did try his case to present a better case for boeing. was reading teh paper on Airbus. Amazing how ppl from both sides try to present us with data that furthers their case. and yes, if u were educated ion the sg education system, u would probably buy every single word in the Airbus paper, or by teh Boeing VP. think i can see now why we need to do paper reviews. haha

remember our business, govt and society prof once said that statistics inreal life produces only statistics of successful firms. thinks that applies in this case too. haha. must say all these foreign profs do provide a different dimension to our learning.

weekends are going to be burnt in school most probably. i m worried abt how i m going to sit for exams at the end of this semester. so much to study!
Income tax - a chore;
finance - needs revision;
Accounting info system - till today, i still don't know what it is about;
company law - law is not exactly my forte. my brains works in chronological order, not mindmaps like law; and
TWC - no joke, 2 business cases, and exam - what is coming up for exam??? haha

spiritually wise, i have not been attending sbm sessions. because my saturdays are mostly burnt in sch from now on. darn.and the only thing i m helping out is with camp, which i m not helping out much at this moment. kaiyi, our camp mistress is at the helm and i can only support her as much as i can.

smubs can go the distance, if we persist.

and yes, everyone is stressed up. and i m going to provide destress - mooncake festival is on next friday! haha if u don't know what mooncake festival is abt, it is the 15th day of teh 8th lunar month, where families gather to eat mooncakes, carry lanterns and view teh nice moon. pray it does the rain. heard of the stody of Chang er, the lady who flew to the moon, with her bunny? can go check out her story.

but..... saturday got finance exam. haha.

and yes custard buns from peach garden! let's go peach garden to eat and destress.

and puee has found a nice loft for accomodation. which she can move in only on the 12 oct. at least it is nice! whee! congrats! really fast in geting the place!

esmond left on mon, puee left on tues, tim left on wed, john left on thurs and jiahui is leaving tonight! on fri! all left/leaving for UK!

Friday, September 22, 2006

hahahahhahahahah
i have officially gone crazy
i jus finished my piano exam!

uncle dell, my examiner reminded me of u. really bubbly guy. cheerful, helpful. helped a bit, though my hands still shoke a bit. and i screwed up the appegios. he was nice to give me a second chance, which i screwed up again. but ya he was all smiles. he is nice too. hopefully he passes me too.

going down to sbm now. secret attack on ravi and bhante.

Thursday, September 21, 2006

uncle dell, how was ur piano performance on saturday? it must have gone well. can u train speedy and mona to dance to ur music? i preseume speedy and mona are having a good time together.

tmr is my piano exam. haven't read up on my aural notes. haha. i hope i don't get breakdowns tmr. and give me easier sightreading and singing pieces please. all this boils down to luck i guess. since the hard work part cannot be worked on any more haha. shall go read up on my aural notes.

been 2 long days yesterday and today. but yup, week 5 is over. onto week 6 and 7, when all the exams and presentations will continue to flood in. even during mid term break week 8. don't we love to be kept busy?

Dear Ms. Chen Siu Siu,

We congratulate you on our confirmation of your wedding dinner at our premises in the infinite future. We are honoured you have chosen our humble location for holding up to 30 tables. Our manager, Ms. Veronica Tan (a.k.a. Lola's mum) is really proud of u! albeit an entertaining phonecall las night

haha siu, my mum will probably laugh off ur "halo ni hao ma" haha. i will try that on ur mama next time promise
i was confused jus more than a month ago, and i m confused again today. over different matters.
I have nothing more to say. Except to say I do what I do not for glory or fame.

& I will stick to my promises. and trudge along. & see my grades fall. Yes I can try to maintain, but I gotta keep to my promises.

Just a grumble. ignore me if you are going to try to find out what is going on in my life. I will be fine.

good times pass too fast, not-so-good times, too slow.

next week 2 big events - company law presentation and piano exam.

happy birthday jiayi!
went with sariputta gals for a veg meal yest.

and yes i heard this in a show from a grandfather:" when a child passes away, the heart break of a parent can be heard from afar." that just jolted me to think abt some of my friends.

even my mum knows of this jc student who committed suicide. it is alright to sink into depression, but do remember to quickly snap out of it. if only they had the support and access to help.

thurs went for dinner with puee, tim and john. these 3 smart ppl are leaving for UK on 26, 27 and 28 sept respectively. met ms chia while we had our dinner. really coincident. we talked. and talked. and these ppl are really positive influences in my life. i enjoy talking with them. they make me want to work hard. and once in a while, we need such pep talks. such inspiration.

so, i had a good time on thurs and fri. back to work and i m so looking forward to the end of the week.

Past
Good weekend.
Friday, went to da bei for full dress rehearsal.

Saturday – full house for our talk! Whee! And Venerable Mahinda definitely does not look 59. He has a humour in his talks. And I like his durian trees.

Sunday – Full house in SBM once again.
In the morning, we had Venerable Mahinda to our youth group alone. Even more laughter. He talked about seeking forgiveness from others, as well as forgiving others. It is hard to do. But I guess once u are able to get those words out of your mouth, the relief is beyond words. Who would reject you if you had toughened your skin to seek forgiveness from him/her?

He talked about parents and spouses. This is not the first time we have been reborn as humans in the samsara cycle. We have had many parents. Whereas in the sense of a Buddhist marriage, your spouse has an affinity with you for many lifetimes. This affinity is carried from lifetime to lifetime.

I love venerable’s durian trees. I would like a 3-day retreat. 3 day only first. I can’t live without cold water to bathe with.

For our public talk at our minute little temple, venerable talked about meditation. He talked about chief reverend also. A person’s passing is a sad affair, but venerable put it in such a way, that Chief is having fun visiting the different realms, esp the devas, that I personally felt happy for him haha.

Venerable talked about the mayan calendar, about so many things. Ppl filled the temple to the brim. We projected his talk upstairs and in the corridor. But ppl filled up even the kitchen, where they could not see any projections of him – they could only hear him.

And personally, I am rejuvernated by venerable’s talk. It has been a long time since I heard/felt such inspiration. And the happiness felt seeing so many ppl turn up for our talks. Appreciative joy, venerable said. It is a different form of happiness hanging out with my friends.

Future
And you know what, I am happy =D but there is still so much to do. Most pressing is Company Law weekly buzz and presentation. And there is still TWC business plans. Income tax? Finance homework?
There is sariputta house. And the ntubs president had jus invited me to their investiture this Friday. Probably turn up if time permits. I hope time permits for so many things. I m on a roll again. So many things jus rolling in. pls let me have the time and energy for everything and everyone in my life.

I m starting to get worried. Most of the people in the accounting classes, e.g. AIS, everyone are all so good. Argh. Need to study hard for a reasonable grade. Argh. I am going to get worried over this semester’s results.

"And the words that seem too hard to say
Come out when you've gone away"

today, 7sept, is termed as Pui San's day.

I really had fun going ard City Hall with Pui San, taking in the sights and sounds of Bienaelle (however we shd spell it) we took photos of ourselves, stopped passer-bys to take pictures for us. We walked and talked like we had all the time in the world. I really miss those days of long walks and senseless talks.

We took pic with the Raflles Place skyline, the Supreme Court, the Art piece in front of the museum, the ex-RGS sch gate ...

We then went to the Loof, which was where we originally planned to visit if we really had all the time in the world. next stop - Hooters!

Puee, if u r reading this, I wanna post al the pics we took tonight! i will kop from ur blog alright?

and the above quote was kopped from puee's blog as well.

"And the words that seem too hard to say
Come out when you've gone away"

guess it is always easy for us to criticise ppl and point out ppl's bad points. and it takes so much to give compliments and appreciation for ppl. i shall learn to criticise myself first before i criticise others. and i shall learn to give encouragement and appreciation to everyoen as well. been a long time since i had to be conscious abt all these :)

public talk: countdown: 1 day!

Wednesday, September 06, 2006

i m in rehearsal for TWC presentaion now. presentation is supposed to be 15 min long for 3 of us - me, eugene and xi wen. don't think we will hit the target. but then again, when they tell u 15 min, u don't always have to use up all 15min. why oh why do we allow ourselves to be bound to time limit?

and this morning one group presented for company law. scary. i will sense a slight sigh of relief after today's twc presentation :)

dd i tel u how i have been trying to sleep at 11 and wake up early? yest it did not work. i was supposed to wake up at 7am. but i gained consciousness only at 818am and rolled in bed till 850. hmmm. this morning i woke up early though. :)

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

As we dive head-on into Week 3 for SMU students, week 4 for NUS students and week 5 for NTU students, i realise that fewer people are updating their blogs. and i hope my blog will be of entertainment to at least one person.

and from this week on, i will have at least one presentation/test/exam/workshop until week 13. now is only week 3. OMG.
week 3 - twc presentation
week 4 - coy law weekly buzz
week 5 - coy law presentation
week 6 - ???

steve irwin's death has somehow been a topic to many Singaporeans. Often, we can see many of us with a turtle in front of our msn nicknames in tribute to steve irwin.

and yes. SBM's pulic talk is this SATURDAY!!! 9 sept 2006. pls do attend if you can make it. because our guest speaker, venerable mahinda, has been specially invited from malaysia to come to singapore.

so many things, so little time. yet i m bored at home. grrr. i miss my holidays.

wecome Mona Lisa Merlion Lim! hope mr speedy does not bully her!

hehe uncle dell and joan zeze have gotten a sister for speedy! sure hope speedy does not bully her! btw, u can see speedy with me in my msn pic :)

alright. monday blues since sunday. all my members were late for meeting this morning. siu came to sch to have lunch with me. later have ais.

don't understand why sq has all the energy to wake up early in the morning nowadays and i m so lethargic, when the situation was opposite jus a few months ago. man, i need all the energy to bounce out of bed when i get up man hehe.

and this week is busy busy. plenty of things to do. public talk is finally here. and i can feel the stress of sch coming again. all the project groupings, presentaion dates, meetings coming. i can feel it.

and there is camp ehi-passiko. and piano exam. imf starts next week. sj and ryan, do ur best and study hard as well alright?

TWC meeting
wed is TWC presentation 1. twc is becoming like BGS - not good sign. met up to discuss contents. jus sent put partially written report to my mates. How to make paper. guess who made paper? not Cai Lun. the Egyptians. smart ppl. more than 4000 years ago already want to pollute the envirnoment and cut down trees. see. now we suffer the problems of global warming. imagine 4000 years later.

SBM
this week has witnessed the passing of 3 friends and relatives of our sbmyians. may all attain the bliss of nirvana.

had a good chat with jed and kym. haha they are brother and sister - one in sec 1 and one in p5. tried to strike up a conversation with them - ask them what tuition they go, what pets they have. mind u, jed does not usually smile, but when u talk to him abt his hamsters, he will give a sheepish smile. and he likes to play with tehsbm cat. and he is real sensible. most kids would not thnk of washing tehir hands after playing with the cat, at least not without their parents' nagging. he voluntarily went to wash his hands. i was pretty impressed by that.

and joaquim is out. HADY HADY HADY! and hopefully finals is a reply of taufik v sly: hady v jon leong.

and i love rock concerts. so did many many aunties at the wu bai concert. thank you for a good concert.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIONEL!

today is the 17th birthday of my one and only brother. went shopping for his present and his cake last night. gave him his present last night and he cut his cake too. normally grandma does not eat chocolate cake, but she gamely woke up last night and ate the cake! haha.

went for lunch with bro and mum. too bad bro has tuition in the morning and afternoon. went shopping with him for a while, then we wanted to go drink bubble tea at his fen's shop, which was unfortunately closed.

going for dinner with foo cousins tonight. thanks for agreeing to come albeit the short notice and everyone's busy hectic schedules.

and i m growing fatter. been eating. siu, we need our gym days!

and i confessed to my mum saying i had 3 coffees in 2 days. guess what her first reaction was? "don't drink too much coffee, not good for complexion" haha no wonder she has been drinking so much tea. so much that i take after her in drinking tea.

and i hope everyone ard me is well and happy.

Thursday, August 31, 2006

alright.
late for company law class this morning. still can stroll to class with serenen ang haha
then had twc meeting.
seriously, twc is a waste of everyone's time. but i must say the prof is nice. so is teh TA. don't know if tehy will still be nice for next week's presentation. hmm. and everyone in my twc is DTT - dying to talk.

and yes, there is seriously sth wrong with teh sch network. excuse me - we pay sch fees but we can't log onto msn? xi wen was saying the sch is trying to ban msn. hh sen t a mail to CIT and CIT replied saying they will ' check it out'. in hh words: incoming students - outgoing students = 800 --> congested interent network. grrr. excuse me, but all of us pay sch fees! and why are there only bins outside gsrs in sob but not in other buildings

twc. grr. every week, my weekend starts with the end of wed. the end of twc. whooppee. weekend is here!

and yes, i overslept on the bus for the third time today on my way home. there is somethign wrong with me. i had to walk back home in the rain :( plus i had 2 iced coffees today. not a good sign.

Tuesday, August 29, 2006

alright. everyone has their own things to do. things are heating up in sch right now. wed is the start of my hectic week. and thurs, it will be over. and then 2 weeks of sch would have gone by and 13 more weeks to go. i sure m looking forward to thurs evening.

to mich: pls take care of urself. believe u r more independent than i m. pls don't miss us, tho we will sorely miss u. will think of u during our public takl as well.

to dee: long time no see. lucky u din grow fatter :) study hard

to jiayi: long time no see too. jiayou for all ur commitments. and remember to be resilient with THAT fren. u can pass ur promos. :)

to sel: sleep well. take care. have fun :) both of us have tons of work to do

ime to study hard, do my twc projects, and try to work out my life. been too slack for too long.
i m going to embark on my 1st project meeting of my 2nd year - TWC. my presentation is next wed! eeeeks! anyway below is what my twc project is gonna be:

what is required for our TWC presentation. Please see below :)
  • Scientific principles associated with the technology
  • Explain how this technology works
  • Identify the series of scientific discoveries that led to development of this technology
  • Competing contemporaneous development effort and any displaced technologies
  • Insightful comments from detailed research, not just copying contents of established website

Presentation is to be 15 min long and will be marked using the following criteria:

  1. amt of excitement generated in class
  2. Mechaism behind the technology investigated
  3. Clarity in comparing evolution of chosen technology
contrasting that partivular technology with competing technologies
  4. amount of thoughtfulness (with special relevance to the class or new business ideas) the group has put into this presentation

later having dinner with mich, sel, dee and mb hwee and jiayi. mich is leaving for vietnam (i think)

and tmr is a long long day. morning coy law haven't read up yet. and then twc. argh. actually, that jared diamond's story book look alike is actually quite interesting to read. hopefully i can finish chapters 4 to 9 before tmr's afternoon lesson. income tax and finance - haven't do finance homework yet! eeeeeekkkkks!

back to stress mode over sch work. but now, there are more responsibilities to shoulder.

and yes, i promised my brother to blog abt all hte good food he has been whipping up for me. haha on sunday, he cooked this really nice cheese omelette. and he was really generous to share with me :) and he only cooks eggs - fried, scrambled, omelette :)

of yes. and last night heard my first song from jay chou's new album, courtesy of mr yeo. this song was with fei yu qing. why does jay chou like to do duets with guys now? and on my way o shc this morning, i heard jay chou's fantasy album. and my fav song is still jian dan ai. his older songs are still nicer.

reflections after giving out flyers at an unearthly hour on a monday, facing office ladies and gentlemen with monday blues, at a hectic place, where terrorists r likely to bomb aka raffles place

today, as i entered bishan mrt with a brown package of 2000 flyers, i was worried that the mrt personnel will demand to check my package haha. teh train was packed even at 710am! and i thot it will be sparse.

basically, there are a few kinds of ppl i met this morning as i stood outside teh mrt station. there are those nice ppl, who are carrying their bags, laptops, soya bean breakfast, they will still smile at you and receive your flyer. really makes u feel worth it to stand there and wish everyone passing by a good morning and a thank you, whether or not they take ur flyer.

then the other extreme kind of person is they don't even cknowledge your existence. look away. i was so worried, as they scurried down the stairs to avoid me, that they will trip and fall over their high heels. oh well. next time when i see ppl giving out flyers, i will take one. cos it is really not easy. and i will not crumple up and throw away in front of that person.

haha all in all, it was a good experience. haven't waken up at such an unearthly hour in such a long time. gg to zzz before reading my ais and goign for my afternoon ais class.

before i leave, my mum has been asking me to take up law in smu, cos smu is coming up with a law sch. and i tried to explain to her taht law isn't exactly my forte. think she meant it as a topic of discussion, but my reaction to her was really bad la. regret. but she is ok with it. her left side of her face is swollen now cos she apparently fell in the restaurant :( somehow my mum manages to keep upbeat despite such accidents and such spoilt daughter and son. i really salute her.

Sunday, August 27, 2006

tmr, monday, i have to be at raffles place mrt at 715am to give out flyers. hmm. i wonder how am i going to wake up and be there on time. somehow i will do it. so if u happen to be at raffles place mrt tmr morning, u may just see me!

and sun is a rest and relac day. i m having only my piano lesson. with each passing piano lesson comes a step closer to my piano exam. eeks!

and jay chou's new album is out. yay! i m gonna get it. any other takers?

and i have to get thank you cards. pls remind me.

anything else?

2nd week of sch is looming... my 1st presentation is on the 3rd week. but now with imf out, more time to ourselves!
today finally went down to sbm in a long long while. new faces - or m i the new one to them?
we had our meeting for our public talk. hope everything is going smooth smooth good good. had a good time with mich, sel, zhen lin, ryan melon, ernest, hwee, and so many ppl. it is nice to see how the organisation of the event is coming up. and to see how we can all be part of the event. we r not jus audience. we r ushers, postment, liason officers, logistics manager, AV i/c... so many so many things! and the last time i was involved in such events would probably be in council in jc. how fast time has passed us w/o mercy.

and yes, all of u who are reading my blog now are cordially invited to my public talk at da bei buddhist centre on 9 sept, sat. it is near lavender mrt and talk by our guest speaker monk is from 7pm to 9pm. details are available at the website below:

and yes, today lam and ah kow, whom i shd address politely as terence, were surprised to hear that our guest speaker monk was from malaysia, who came to sg and is now based in australia. haha. not only shaolin monks are monks ok? tehre are abt 3branches la. shaolin monks probably belong to the mahayana, which is prevalent in china. then there is theravada, which is mine, which is often in sri lanka, phillipines. and lastly, there is Vajrayana, which is the tibetian kind of buddhism. i hope i m getting my info right.

i m now having a chocolate fondue cake from beard papa for breakfast. yum yum.

over the past 2 days, i have been meeting up with my frens. which is a good thing, before i get engulfed by all the upcoming sch work.

on mon, when i had stepped into sch for abt 2 hours, i could feel the hatred for the sch. haha. hatred is too strong a word. but it is the noun for hate. i hate the sch. so many ppl. think i need to be a hermit haha.

anyway, met pui san on thurs. whee. we went to catch a movie at the Cathay. The Cathay is pretty bare and sparse now. kinda like Shaw, where you can see all the escalators criss crossing. and to all tertiary students! from mon to thurs, produce your matriculation card at the Cathay and enjoy $1 off each ticket! plus you could get a lucky draw ticket for either a starbucks voucher or an adidas voucher. guess which we won? :D

then met wing lam and huiyi on friday. and when was the last time we went to seoul garden? we had so much so much fun.

before that, i was supposed to meet siu, sq and sj after their gym session. first i pang seh their gym session cos i refuse to get out of bed. then siu went home (think lack of slp) and sq went to prepare for his vivace. and i really really intended to buy muffins for all of u!!! grr!!!but i was late le :P and siu and sq were not ard anyway.

so while sq, ue and sj had finishing touches, i went to bras basah to collect my book - opening the doors of ur heart by ajahn brahm. FINALLY! WHEE!

after that, sj and i went to meet lam to go huisi's house for dinner. and yes. i still think the cheesecake was alright. food was good too. i ilke the dumplings :D and the fruit cocktails!

alright. sat is a long day. not exactly busy

anyone want to give my dear cousin melissa jc2 chem tuition?

Friday, August 25, 2006

it has been a week since 18 august. since we watched the madam white snake play.
had 2 full days of lessons yesterday and today.
first was company law. like i have mentioned so many times, law is not exactly my fav subj.

moving on to twc. once again, another subj we could do without.

then i fell asleep on the bus and overslept and missed my stop. and this bus, once i miss the stop, i have to cross over, stop at teh bus stop nearest to my house, which is still pretty far away and lug my heavy bag and laptop home. argh. reahed home after 8pm.

this morning was income tax. prof is super alert. caught me typing away and not paying attention. ask me to answer questions. argh.

finance was oh-so-boring. but second half was so much better. and i think it would help me to get my biological clock back to normal so taht i wont feel so sleepy in class.

and Vivace ie our cca feste is tmr. and i m so going to boycott vivace. why?
cos some ppl jus can't work w/o paperwork, normal procedures. they are like machines who act based on instructions. argh.

heck with creative thinking, flexibility.

Wednesday, August 23, 2006

today was a tiring day.
Haven't had a full day of school in 4 months.
had company law in the morning. many vacancies. nice prof. but law is BORING. cos i don't use my grey matter to think. i believe law is such a dynamic subject, it is probably like gp where u have to structure and argue ur way out, like bashing ur way thru a plot of grassland.

then had lunch. wandered ard sch. so many ppl. guitar club was playing at lunchtime at killiney. went to verts before settling down at sob to wait for my twc class.

twc class was a waste of time. but i think it is an interesting subject. my first presentation is on week 3! that is so soon!

tmr is income tax and finance. busy busy semester.
thank Buddha I m not a LAWyer.....

and yup i woke up at 4am again. tell me 4am is not the bewitching hour.

AIS
21 August 2006 Monday

Why are CPA firms reluctant to audit charities?

auditors are not there to check that charites are run properly, that charities do not install golden toilets.
if the golden toilet bowl is installed, then it must be stated clearly in the financial reports. that is what auditors do.
so CPA firms are reluctant to audit charities because in the past, charities have not set aside money to set up auditing services previously. this the quality of information available to auditors would be less than satisfactory. both parties would have to settle based on trust.

hmmm. is this what AIS is abt?
AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH!
here is a shout out to everyone haha.
:P
good day my mates

Sunday, August 20, 2006

alright.
grade 6 piano exam on 22 sept 2006 (friday) at 12.23pm at cristofori at toa payoh hdb hub.

went for piano lesson. my piano teacher is really nice and funny. her things have been going missing. and she attributes it to "those things" aka ghosts. then she recounted more ghost stories to me haha. her favourite past time.
good morning everybody. i m awake at 4am in the morning. again. prob the 3rd or 4th time this week. i do not know why as well. prob cos the weather is too hot. or i have been dreading the start of sch. the 4 months summer hols were too good.

just talked to big ryan - before i fell asleep at 145 that is. we may not be able to give out the 200 goodie bags we spent 1 afternoon painstakingly packed. Buddha bless us that we may still stand a chance. Everyone is pretty psyched up abt Vivace. However, in the event we can't get permission to be mobile Santa Clauses giving out goodie bags, we shd not despair. probably give out our goodie bags to new, interested ppl during our own sessions.

also, perhaps due to the high influx of emails, esp regarding IMF, many ppl have not replied my emails, e.g. email to seek a sch email address. how m i supposed to send emails then? i can't give out goodie bags, i can't give out flyers, i can't send emailers - what CAN i do?

I must say it is not easy being a pioneer. not easy starting a religious grp as well, especially in secular singapore. but i m really glad to have my trusted frens with me all the way thus far - for finding out the proper procedures, designing logo, flyers, providing manual labour, talking nonsense, waking up early with me to visit the sch authorities, taking initiative to meet authority and email them. so much so much stuff. we have come so far, let's keep it going. almost there :)

purpose of this email was not to complain abt the difficulties of setting up our club. but to pass time while i can't sleep.so don't take this too seriously - i could jolly well be sleep-blogging.

we were all in yellow, and the elderly are queueing up to burn the papers.

and i forgot to mention earlier that i saw a really really huge turtle swimming. probably the size of a man's chest. i named it crush. shall visit crush someday again.

Friday
went to Kusu Island with a group of elderly folks. It si part of a communitty service requirement from the ppl who sponsored our shanghai trip. i only had 1.5 hrs of slp the night before, hence i was sleeping on the bus, on the ferry and as and when possible. the weather recently has been so hot that i have moved to sleeping in my living room.

think the elderly enjoyed visiting the dua pei gong temple on kusu island. have some pics up there. they bought the joss sticks and set about doing hteir own things, offering joss sticks, burning the papers. then we took a seat under the trees and talked.

must say that the ferry service was really long. we took the ferry from sentosa. i used to take penguin ferry from the quay near raffles place. thank goodness i din get sea sick.

then we came back to sentosa and had lunch. we had prepared fried rice for the elderly, while we had to buy our own burger king. i m getting sick of burger king. so no more burger king for me till my appetite for it regains pls.

walked ard. some of the elderly went to the orchid garden while the others were too tired and sat under a pavillion. i was playing baseball will nicole haha. silly girl. really nice to meet up with all my shanghai mates again :)

and yes see the pic of siu interviewing kc?
dunno what they were roleplaying also. think a reporter was interviewing a big-bellied businessman who sells bags haha.

siu, thanks for helping me buy the company law book and lugging 2 big fat thick books to ur house and lugging one back to sch on monday. i realy owe u lots lots man.

school is gonna reopen soon. and i don't want that to happen. and things often happen when least expected. so when sch reopens, we will probably have to divert 110% of our energy and attention back to 3 hours seminars, gsr, projects, presentations, friends. i procrastinate too much.

Thursday, August 17, 2006

went to smu admin this morning to talk abt our smubs logo. needs some alteration. which i will have to depend on some of my trusted aides :)

then had breakfast with kc. we talked abt many things. and kc, thanks for talking and sharing. haha and thanks for ordering coffee for me! :P i hope ur bags business wil take off.

then siu, parlin and fenny came. thanks gals for comign down to guang ming shan too. i believe we had a fun time, amidst all the books and goodie bags we pack. i will try my best to get all the go-aheads. even though many things are still unconfirmed. i really appreciate ur efforts :)

came home and sent out another spate of emails. i m starting to spam a little too much.

sch is starting. and i m still apprehensive. to put it in sq's words, i m prob afraid of changes to my curently bumming ard lifestyle. heck.

studies. less play. less time to waste. more time to put our brains to better use.

Wednesday, August 16, 2006

Monday, August 14, 2006

alright. i prob have not blogged since wed, national day. i have more pictures to upload, but have yet to upload them yet.

thurs - dunno wat i did

fri
my parents, wing lam, meiyin, huiyi, siu and sj came to the conference hall at sch of accountancy at smu. wanna thank you guys for being present. many things could have happened e.g. me tripping over my court shoes. thank buddha it did not happen.

thanks to my 3 best frens for the 3 flowers.

went to visit joan after that. the church was just behind the smu admin block. went to sit in the church for a while.

then went for dinner at peach garden. after which went to teh scarlet hotel. comparable to cosy bay. puee, we r going to visit one of these soon.

sat
spent a whole day at a service training workshop, in preparation to be usher for IMF event, which is coming to SIngapore from the 11 to 20 sept 2006. it is a really huge, gigantic, enormous, BEEG, humongous event. u can read more abt the 4,000,000 smiles campaign in sg launched jus for the IMF/World Back Meeting here.

sun
went to watch the Phillip Cup with 2 of my good frens cum thomson club cum bball fans cum NBA TV viewers, Puee and Qt. the angmohs really play one class above the asians. not being biased here

uncle dell and zeze: grandma says that when u come back, she wanna throw a meal. so she is asking when u r coming back. haha. there is a reason why she wanna throw the meal ;)

Friday, August 11, 2006

somehow, i have not been able to upload any more pictures. I think my com has a virus. hmmm.
went to watch musical Broadway Beng last night with my jc frens aka Thomson Club. It was a funny musical, with all the hokkien songs. Sebastien Tan was funny. But it makes me wonder why do ppl pay to watch actors/ comedians make self-deprecatory remarks abt themselves. mb Singaporeans are not laughing at themselves enough?

As Victor said, plays which are successful in SIngapore usually are unable to break into the international arena. Most of these plays thrive on the Singlish/Ah-Bengish/Hokkien which makes it funny to SIngaporeans. INternational plays, like FOrbidden City, may turn ppl off rather than entice ppl to realy come and enjoy the show. BTW, Sebestian Tan can code switch pretty well.

Oh yes, and Thomson Club is back in business. The usual gang now hold titanium membership (haha). We are recruiting members now. and my mum is the honorary member so that we can make peach garden the official place of business haha. oh man. more ppl joining the bishan club! Whoppee!

National Day, an event where tens of thousands of singaporeans dressed in red troops down yearly, under the bright hot scorching sun, trying to get the best seats right next to the grand stand.

For my mum, it is more abt supporting the country that has given her opportunities, supporting the ppl who have made this place safe for her and her family.

For me, it was the third consecutive national day parade i have been to, and i actually fell asleep during the performance. how can anyone fall asleep? i did.

this is a random picture i took with my dad when we went for our macdonald's dinner. my dad is not really anti-fast food btw. he used to bring my brother and i to burger king, pizza hut weekly.

we went to the night safari after the zoo. and if u see the horse carriage picture, I think the Zoo shd scrap this activity. Horseback riding is bad enough. these horses pulling carriages have blinds over their eyes. they can't see anywhere except right ahead. whether they feel the pain anot, i jus feel uncomfortable seeing the horses.

On the way to the zoo. we took bus 138 (i think) luckily it was not a long ride.

Tuesday, August 08, 2006

life really depends on whether u look on the good side or the back side.
will post zoo pics tmr

Monday, August 07, 2006

today sj told me i neglect publicity, that publicity is vital to our smubs. i must say i agree with him. tmr me, siu and kc are going to embark on our fantasies. don't wanna stress anyone. let's have fun while doing it.

dunno what to say or to think abt now. i m just putting it off. life is unpredictable. so cliched. so i shd stop procrastinating. but i still do. hmmm. if anyone is going to tell me that what i m going to say is cliched or outdated, i m so gonna slap u. pardon my language. think abt the ppl who die in wars. kamikaze. suicide bombers. sacrificing ur precious life for a so-called 'noble cause' which u can't live to see. everyone is born selfish. and the best motivation is for urself. pls. don't give up on hope just like that. treasure ur life and see the next sunrise.
