1st july 2006 saturday

slept at 530. woke up at 730 jet lag. many well wishes from all my frens. thank you very much :)

started unpacking my luggage. really nice to see my grandmother again after 3 weeks.
koko, kima and kipa came over early in the morning with nice breakfast. the house was in a frenzy as my mum and my brother was awakened by the 4 of us (me, koko, kima and kipa, who are still suffering from jet lag). although my bro could not go to SF, he prob got the most presents.

my mum wanted to see my cousin's new car, which apparently is small and cute. so both of them went down. then -surprise- my mum came back up with a nice big choc cake no.1 from lana cake shop. had a simple celebration then ate the cake.

showed my mum the photos from sf. really pretty. gotta go develop them tmr.

then went to watch superman with my bro, cousin and kipa. it is a nice show - the visual effects are real cool. definitely worth the $9 i think.

then went to sbm. haven't been to sbm for real long. for the benefit for Zeze in sf who does not understand the acronym
SBM - Singapore Buddhist Mission
SMU - Singapore Management University
any other acronyms?

thanks to my darlings gals, who really prepared everything and pampered me. thanks for the flowers, the choc cake no. 2 from Awfully Chocolate. really missed u gals (u all know that)
thanks mich for holding on these past few weeks
thanks dee for coming out despite the headache. remember to learn to let go sometimes and not take things too harsh upon urself :)
thanks jiayi for rushing down after ur dance :)
and thanks sel for sending me ur well wishes from m'sia!
thanks hwee too. for everything. enuff said

then 5 of us went to whatever cafe for dinner
it is called Whatever cafe. interesting place that sells organic food.and we sat there and talked till the cows came home. and choc cakes no. 3.

after that, went to watch horrible match between england and portugal with mostly England supporters and 2 portugal supporters. there were portugese egg tarts. wish we brewed som english tea too. anyway during halftime, we had choc cake no. 4. see above pic :)

thanks siu, kc, ryan, sq and sj for ur present and cake and card and car rides and for ur friendships.
thanks to the marist gang too. it was fun watching the match - esp the penalty kick part.

of cos not forgetting all of u reading my blog once again -
if u msg me to wish me a happy birthday, thank you very much.
if u did not msg me because u were blur like a sotong or like blur queen tan jia hui, thank you very much too :)

and thanks to my godmother, who delivered her annual bouquet of roses. happy birthday to u too.
thanks to ms chu, for a bookmark from the new york musem.
thanks to sbm exco, thanks to mr bear and mr zf.
thanks to skye in advance, for a waffle with ice cream

more pics coming up!

greetings from shanghai!
back from 16 days trip to shanghai. really missed all of you, my friends.
the first few days were the toughtest, as i tried to get over my home sickness and friends sickness and tried getting used to the weather, the food etc.
it was a really good experience. can't blog it right now. will tell u morewhen i meet u.
tmr will be leaving for san francisco. thanks to all of you who have been calling and msging me and made the past 16 days easier to get thru. made a new bunch of frens and guess we impacted the lifes of at least some children and old ppl in shanghai.
miss all of you =)

been packing my stuff this morning. think i packed too many shirts and pants haha. shaun has been telling me to go there and buy and wear haha. he has been there for close to six months le. less than a month and u will be back soon! we all miss ya :) remember to call me when i m there. haha i dowan to get lost or get kidnapped haha

watched the green mile last night. nice show. mixture of sombre-ness with humour. more impt is the lesson we take away from it. haven't watched a moving movie in a while. all the movies now revolve ard action, love, slapstick humour. mb i won't have the patience to sit thru a serious movie like this if not for a bunch of like-minded frens haha. where is the love man. whoever invented the electric chair ought to be the first to sit in his own creation. the amount of dignity and respect the wardens give their prisoners, maybe we can learn to emulate that level of compassion and tolerance for our frens first, before we learn to do teh same to strangers and to ppl whom the society has condemned.

anyway, these 2 days are kinda slack yet busy. i dunno why also. wed i m leaving already! the weekend passed so fast haha.

to my darlings, luckily my parents din ask me where the flowers come from haha. my mum just said," nice flowers." :)

sunday morning
had a graet time with my family. went for breakfast with my parents and lion. eat full full and cheap cheap. then we went to sheng siong supermarket. next time we are under a budget, can go sheng siong. there is super cheap. most of the things are cheaper by like $1/item. bought loads of cereals, tid-bits for tonight's green mile :)

think my family really learn to appreciate the times we have before they do not see me for 3 weeks hehe. thanks for making me feel special. my mum has been taking good care of me. she knows i kinda over-exerted myself. but thanks to TLC, i m back and ready. and my dad has been doing all teh backstage - changing currency, buying insurance etc. think he was touched when i passed him the anti-bacterial cream. so thanks sj! and lion will be super happy when i m away. hopefully he will use my room to the fullest extent to study. no one to nag at him.

my parents have been asking me abt my results. yest my mum asked and today my dad asked. guess in jc there was result slip but in uni dont' have. dunno how to tell them also. so jus brush aside. think tehy see me play too much, hang ard too much, having too much fun, too many commitments. but to tell u guys, i really learnt a lot throughout these period of time. whether i m hanging out with my frens or hanging out at the temple.

and to SPEEDY, lion will be in charge of your mission to search for ur fren, SPARKY, the biggest cat with the waving hand!

that is all for now. shall blog more these few days :)

Not to do evil,
to cultivate the good,
and to purify the mind.
This is the teaching of all the Buddhas.

life cannot be smooth sailing all the time. but sometimes it is just hard to open up our hearts. i must be a jealous and selfish person sub-consciously. i feel like Jean Gray in X-men. not as powerful as her. but probably needs to control wadever power i have.

X-men is not worth a re-watch. seriously. i personally felt it was a dumb show. then again, it was not the best time for me to watch a show. but some characters are there without a purpose or reason. shall not spoil the fun. but the ending is super lame also. wad are summer blockbusters becoming.

i m getting kinda worried for my shanghai trip. no com, no msn. will miss my frens here. miss sbm. what have i put myself in man. i always do things on the impulse and ask myself the reason why. i keep telling myself it will be a good experience. but as the day of departure creeps nearer, i get more worried. and i m worried for a lot of other thigns as well. i m a perpetual worrier. it is not a good thing

my frens are all goign to work, study in poly... when i officially come back, think i will only be dreading for the day of school reopening to come. will miss all teh fun i had. all the times i enjoyed keeping myself busy. life will continue when we go and work, like this: all ur frens working and the only time u can meet up is probably afetr work. but u need to accompany family as well. sian.

meanwhile, enjoy wad we have. things will work out by themselves eventually i always believe. call me a procrastinator. fatalist. cynic. skeptic. probably ppl out there who are more procrastinating, cynical, skeptical than i m.

ehi-passiko
come and see you'll know
the teachings of peace
the teachings of love
the teachings of the buddha is for all
who wanna be free forever more

back from camp-ehi-passiko 2006 prequel. this camp is special. cos it marks the one year i have been here. haha. lasy june camp as a camper, dec camp as a group leader and this june camp as an organisor. very different roles, very different feelings and all for a good cause.

as a camper, i was apprehensive. i din know what to expect. probably the oldest camper in sbm history. nonetheless, i had fun, thanks to my group leaders, hong li and yi gong of Uppekha.

as a gl, i was more psyched up. must say my grp Panna had been really supportive and co-operative. it also tested my limits. many ppl helped me. remember forrester always suan me abt my grp. and hang qi was ever ready with his wonderful mop to help me mop up spilled food.

as an organisor, probably had more free time. no exact particular training, though our games team did meet up to rehearse. haha really had loads of fun, both at rehearsals and at the camp. with GAME GOD wencai, GAME MASTER alvin, Mr TEO liwei, as well as with the LOGISTICS AH-team, the Ah-li, Ah-Lok, Ah-Feng, Ah-Pork and alex and melon ryan and Big ryan! always gang up and bully me :( but really had loads of fun. once, i saw the happiness on the camper's face, how much they were enjoying themselves and i actually felt happy. u may think it is cliched, but when everyone is tired, sweaty, smelly, sleepy, u start seeing little things like this that brightens ur day and energizes ur day :)

first day was ice-breakers and station games. the field was muddy. but our campers were enthusiastic to really go in and get wet and dirty! u shd smell them man. sweat, water, mud = smelly haha. think they really broke the ice and made some frens albeit calling their team amtes by names like "nanyang gal!"

i was in charge of the water transport game, together with big ryan. my game was not exactly fun. but it was hard work. fetching pails of water. but all the teams really put in their best efforts. and their gls were very enthusiastically helping them. some of teh boys took off their shirts to soak up the water. remember forrester and jonathan refuse to take off their shirts (cos tehy scared fat) and jon actually used his head instead. super hilarious.

then the second day, the teams were sent on a world tour ard the Lim Chu Kang area. there were stations at the goat farm, frog farm, along the bus stops etc. i was stationed at the goat farm together with mr zz. mr zz was super funny. asked teh teams which came to our station to cheer him up but not with a cheer. so some teams gave him a massage, others gave him a banana strip tease and tehre was a team which acted the process of milking a goat. haha. both of us felt like singapore idol judges.

then at night, we had the night mission water bombs training for our campers. believe they enjoyed themselves a lot. was taking notes by the side. usually we only observe the exciting stuff at the front. i was in charge of the back and saw all teh funny stuff. like bryan playing with his shadows at the back. his team had left him behind and all the snipers had followed his team and left him alone and he still thot tey were after him. super funny. got many other incidents la. can narrate to u guys more.

third day was final showdown. i was prepared not to get hit by water bombs. but who knows? grp Upali had chosen me as their shiny card hero!!! my power was so lame, but i decided i had to help them, cos i think they really fought hard to get their shiny card hero and i could not fail them for my own fun's sake. had loads of fun shouting "sariputta star!" even tho there were times when other teams came and pelted me with the water bombs. super pain sia, especially when our armours were placed on the stomachs. must salute jonathan once again, who sneaked up on me from behnd and tried to hit me. pain pain pain. and lincoln was ever ready to protect me haha. thanks lincoln!

then we had our camp fire on wed night. i had so much fun. we sang more new songs, we danced for a long long time. teh parents also danced with us. nice to see pks ppl with us. like sel, ching wi, and nick shen was there too! haha

my eye was red. still is red. but that was not goign to dampen my spirits. supposed to help pack up on wed night. but must thank the logistics team. realy did a good job. while i sat ard, with my big red eye. i looked tired teh whole camp. sad. hopefully don't publish any photos of me or any video clips of me pls. PLS. PLSSSSS.

wed night slept at 5. sorry mich and dee, cannot tahan le. but nice to see both u gals. and sel and cherie, hope tests are alright. jiayi, hope u r enjoying ur italy trip :)

came home on thurs morning. after unpacking and bathing, watched a bit of nba before falling asleep on my sofa, knowing that detroits were leading by a huge margin. woke up for my shanghai trip meeting. met one new fren. ada :)

this morning went for ros meeting. pls allow my buddhist society to be set up. i have everything ready except the stamp of approval.

tonight we are goign to celebrate kc's birthday. to kc: happy belated birthday! sorry forgot to msg u on tues as i was in camp. not a good enough reason. happy biorthday my fren.
meanwhile, will continue doing up my teaching materials for shanghai trip. and the pictures u see below are the pictures we tok at the goat farm of the 8 groups. these 8 groups were named after buddha's disciples :)

alright. i m sick. this afternoon got headache on my way to piano lesson. but feeling better already. tmr is Camp Ehi-Passiko. As i m typing this, our members from the advanced team are already at the campsite, having cleared up the place and awaiting our grand arrival tmr hehe.

hope i have planned everything already. start of a hectic month. lots of things to do.remember to grab hold of every moment we have. and live everyday as if it is our last. seriously. enjoy the time. on my way home, i suddenly felt teh stress of having to do projects and presentations again. not a god feeling. dowan to go back to sch. if only summer hols were longer...

it has been a year since my first Camp ehi-passiko. last june. and what were my feelings then? on the bus to the campsite, i was wondering why did i even sign up for a camp and make myself go for a camp when i could spend teh days at home enjoying myself. guess i was a bit protective as well, cos i really din know anyone at teh camp, unfamiliar with teh surroundings. but tmr will be my third camp already. and the feeling is definitely different. third camp. with a bunch of familiar ppl. at familiar campsite. after many chalets. jus pack and go.

must say my dad has been acting wierd. ask me whether i went to donate blood. when i donated so long ago. and he has this thing abt donating blood. feel kinda guilty la. dunno whetehr i really told him. but usually he does not question me so much abt what i do. only recently he has been asking me what have i been doing.

anyway went to my cousins' house too. my aunt gave me a long pants and some comforters from SIA. thankfully my family is quite close to this cousin's family. was early for piano lesson for one hour, so went over to their house to sit sit lor. my aunt is nice. so are my cousins. so is my uncle. :) and yes, MOST ppl are nice, to me.
today is not a good day for me :(

1. i lost my new nike shirt :(
2. detroits jus lost game 3 to miami heats :( :(

super heart pain that nike shirt. but i guess while my heart aches, someone out there who picked up the shirt must be super happy. perhaps this gives me a reason to go shopping more.

din know there was nbs this sun morning until i flipped the newspapers. by the time i flipped to espn, detroits already losing by 10 points. and they simply could not attack. cannot shoot, cannot penetrate. cannot do anything. while shaq was catching rebounds and dwayne wade was shooting long distance. must say the duo is good. but still, i think miami won cos they were playing on home court.

spent my sat yesterday at sbm. met yong, wencai at 10. mr liwei gege came at 1145 haha. meanwhile, 3 of us had fun playing Typing of the Dead, projected onto the wall. haha super fun la. acting was fun too. i m not good at acting, but i will try my best. anyone has thick specs to lend me? those nerdy ones...

then members came in abt 12pm. watched us act. guess it was not that hard to act in front of them cos they were supportive and laughing at whatever funny things we were doing. then at 1, we started our song singing sessions. sing and sing and sing. until my sexy voice came back again. haha. shalll drink loads of honey. just went to buy redoxin CHEWABLE tablets (not the effervescence ones)

then we went to collect firewood, chop them up, remove nails and tie them up. and trust us to have fun anywhere we are. some of us were in the back alley supposedly tying up firewood while pretending to be some jap anime characters. some of us, enjoying air con in the temple, were listening to the alvin and ryan concert HAHA. super funny that ryan. and of cos the alvin from hai die was harmonising ryan haha.

promised my dad i would be home by 8. at 8 i was still at sbm. lucky my mum drove me. ws home by 9. din say much. bathe and use the com in the room. was super sleepy. hopefully get enough sleep before another energy surge before CEP!

seeing my parents both at work, braving the rain and sun on a sunday makes me wanna be less childish. when tehy get angry, i now think that that is not my parent talking to me, but the anger in them talking to me. it makes a difference to me at least. jus keep quiet. on fri i think i kinda said things w/o going thru my brains. not quarrel or anything, but i was trying to make a point.

and i had another vivid dream last night. abt my grandmother. i dunno wat is happening. think i have been sleeping too much. but i can actually remember my dream after i wake up. and during the dream, i can feel the fear, or sadness, or helplessness. have not had a happy dream in a while. haha. or mb i jus forget the hapy dreams and remember the sad dreams.

mr sj promised to organise green mile before i leave. i m posting this so taht i will remember haha.

and if u want the photos from sentosa, think i have to send u via msn. too big to even attach on email. shall try again.

rainy sunday. sleepy sunday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIWEI GEGE!
thanks for inviting us for a sumptuous steamboat and a great time watching power rangers together, at the expense of teh birthday boy being our servant and bringing us our food and turning on the LD player for us. Old liao hor, cannot keep bullying Maria and Anna. haha

anyway, after i slept and woke up, went to meet mich to go to liwei's house. haha both of us ended up going shopping nearby as we were early. went to his house with ting ting. met mabel and coli under his house. then came alvin and ryan melon. then the exco.

must say the Ah-team aka the Logs team is really united. chopped up the sausages, crab sticks, cooked the rice. btw all of them are big boys. they could not stop boasting abt how they prepared the food. haha no la jus kidding

after dinner, alvin and mich were fighting for the remote control as we could not decide on which channels to watch. then mich decided to whip out her ancient Power Rangers movie LD (note: not VCD or DVD. it is LD)we all watched intensely and fought out that power rangers were actually kinda lame. i think the pink ranger was a bimbo (don't let mich hear this) then zeyan, tingting, pearly, mich, ernst and I became the6 power rangers and started singing to all the tunes haha. and named the characters after our own ppl. fun. and we had all these weird hand signs. remember to do this for our campfire this wed night okie? hehe. wad bear, ape, crane, falcon, FROG and wolf. haha

sang liwei 3 birthday songs, with 2 cakes. ate and left for home. thanks liwei once again, for letting us mess up ur house, having a good dinner and watching a great cartoon that allowed us to relive whatever childhood we had. :D and mb i shd eat lighter stuff these few days, after all the bbq and steamboat. haha camp ehi-passiko food!

CHALET 101
top 15 tasks u shd never attempt at a chalet

15. play bishi bashi at 2am in the morning unless u want to dream abt blue, red, green; green, blue, blue, red...

14. take up the role of a bird or a rabbit or a dolphin or an elephant when playing the animal game

13. attempt to sabo the person next to u when playing 007 and u forget to make some noise urself.

12.sleep in any corner of the room

11. look out of the window or at the mirror when sleeping

10. listen to ghost stories

9. marinate chicken in the toilet, then leave the empty marinating sauce bottles in the toilet, together with all the wet clothes

8. resist 2 big men's efforts in asking u nicely to go into the sea - otherwise you will regret it

7. run for the frisbee with ryan - end up getting muah-chee

6. run for the frisbee with sj - sit on the frisbee

5. sleep by the pool without a sleeping bag

4. train a cat to get stand up and grab food from ur hands - they start grabbing everything that is within their height.

3. say u r hungry unless u want tau hu goreng

2. lie in bed when u can't sleep, thinking that all the other ppl in the room are asleep. unless he/she is snoring of cos. and of cos, remember to entertain laura's milo party.

and the top thing never to do at a chalet:
1. order too many marshmallows and satay sauce - not the best concoction

back from chalet at sentosa. not exactly sleepy. slept on the bus home. it was ryan's chalet (:)) with SMU frens and SMUBS ppl. we had: me, siu, vee, ryan, hh, kc, sj, sq, boon boon, wei loong, kevin, billy. fun fun fun.

came back watched NBA. i officially declare my heart is with detriot pistons. they beat miami heats in the best-of-seven games finals (Western Conference?) anyway, the lineup for pistons is still the same. what i like abt them is that they play as a team. and they are a simple yet branded team. and they know all their team members so well, it is amazing. chauncey billups, tayshaun prince, ben wallace, rasheed wallace, that guy with a mask... jus that they play with only they main 5. and when miami full court press them, they kinda lost their footing. and their big defence is a little too wide for their own comfort. keep giving miami easy lay-ups and scores. dwayne wade is good btw. too bad he is in a team that plays only 2 players - him and shaq. hope to see pistons in finals!

remember that day watched kobe bryant and steve nash fight. this is what competition and loyalty do to perfectly sane grown up men. throughout the whole match, everytime there was contact between any players from thet 2 teams, the two captains will start shoving each other. haha. thot that was pretty amusing.

anyway, shall blog more abt my chalet later. and will post up pictures soon.

jus a tribute to a fren:
hope u r doing fine out there somewhere. be happy and leave behind ur legacy. ur story has touched many of our hearts, brought out the best in some, and made us understand more abt life. jus wanna wish u to be well and happy and go on to a better rebirth.

came back from an outing with my study buddies. kc came for dinner with us. really sweet of u. and i m happy for ur qm. shows that hard work does yield results. especially all the black face and stress we had to tahan :)

met victor gan chee how on my way home. my pri sch cum jc cum going-to-be smu fren cum neighbour. now all we talk abt is smu haha. funny guy la. one day ask him out for ice cream. and he is getting an iBook. argh.

lost air hockey to 2 "gentlemen". have to be their maids over the next few days. argh.

fri is sbm games team workday. looking forward to acting :) looking forward to camp as well.

don't abuse your freedom. sometimes i wish i was born a member of the opposite sex.

never ever share a medium popcorn between 2 ppl.

watched mi:3 with wing lam today. haven't seen u in a while gal. and nice to see u! :) and wad else do we do besides shopping? I made the wrong choice of suggesting to eat popcorn and ordering the medium popcorn. both of us always do such nonsense: attempting to eat a tub of ice cream, going to ulu shopping centres. i miss those times. and i m glad to have u and my and hy as my frens. :)

isetan having sale! everywhere having sale! shoppers, go on weekdays, when there is a sale, and there is no need to queue for the changing room. went to robinsons with my dad yesterday. so crowded, i ended up waiting for my dad.

had a lil time to myself today. The kindest thing you can do is to be kind to yourself. Set aside some time for yourself only. no phone, no sms, no msn etc. i thot abt a lot of things. and i think i worry too much. if things cannot be changed, why worry? if things can be changed, why worry? too many distractions, which drain our energy away.

met siu and sj for dinner. talked abt homosexuality. i still feel one can be against homosexuality without being prejudiced against homosexuals. they have their way of living. it is just like arranged marriage in the past. parents will not give their blessings if the couple was not arranged to be married. however, today how many ppl still go for arranged marriage?

early in the morning went to manjusri with xiong, melon ryan, mingming, lc, hongli, mao mao. we talked more than promote the camp la. but i enjoyed it. and xiong, i promise next time my time to complain abt desmond. hehe. and melon ryan, shall watch what i say from now on, big boss boon.

countdown to camp ehi-passiko: 6 days!

yay! so exciting!

i finally learnt how to link all your blogs to my blogs! thanks to a moment of ingenuity early in the morning after i woke up hehe. see all the wonderful people's blogs on the right? yay!

and yup this morning koko msg me. saying kipa and kima wanna go to america. yay! i wanna go too! and that makes my want to watch world cup even more remote. with summer classes over, seems like more work to be done than ever. but i enjoy doing all these. because this is what i like to do. like camp ehi-passiko. like meeting up with my cousins and frnes. once camp ehi-passiko rolls, my schedule will be packed back to back!

this week is sentosa chalet week with my smubs peeps 24 - 26 may
next week is camp ehi-passiko week 29 may - 1 june
week after is shanghai 7 - 22 june
tentatively the next day is USA 23 - 30 june
genting 5 - 8 july?

guess i will have a breather between 1 - 4 july. haha packed packed packed. hope mum can come for USA as well. then she can pay for my expenses haha. no la. i love my mum. which mum will celebrate her children's birthdays for a week? my mum does. think my mum has this special ability to make a person feel special. mb that is why she is in the service industry. she has this aura. on the other hand, she can make u feel lousy abt urself too. she knows it, which is why she tries not to criticise me, cos my skin is too thin.

and to uncle dell: koko is going to book tickets tmr (hopefully) hope u get to watch nba and world cup at your house!!! and hope speedy watches them too. then can i hog ur tv with speedy please? :)

life is super jam packed now. not with sch work, but with all my frens, my cousins, sbm!

camp ehi-passiko is round the corner le. many things to prepare. thankfully we have a group of highly commited boys and girls (including me). highly motivated, self-initiated. today was cutting armours and aluminium for our war game. haha the palce was in a mess. but everyone got things done. and melon ryan lee aka Big Boss Boon, if u read my entry, I NEED STRING!!! please.... haha

michelle, selina and lindy were down. jiayi! where were you? wanted to catch Over the Hedge with the Sluts today. too bad we are overly responsible sariputta sluts(stars). stayed back to finish up. zhen lin and i came up with this super fast way of cutting double sided tape and pasting on the Al foil. haha. so sariputta sluts(stars) decided to have dinner at our usual macs in place of our movie. next time okie? and ernst, remember to call me!

yesterday went out with my cousins. had dinner at crystal jade. we were all stresed up with exams, so decided to have a good meal and a good shopping trip. they also bought some stuff la they all. stuff in their bags until so often haha. but i always enjoy myself out with them anyway.

back to sbm. haha i m gonna act in the skit! yay! i need those nerdy black thick specs. who has? lend me.my first time doing games. with alvin yong and liwei = fun fun fun.

tmr will prob go shopping with my dad. he rarely goes shopping. since he asked me, i think i shd accompany him. and shelf my baking plans. need to get ingredients first.

a long movie does not necessarily equate to a good movie.

at the request of ms wanlingx, i have decided to update my blog at this unearthly hour. jus watched da vinci code with a huge group of friends. haha most of us were sleppy/tired/exhausted. must say that it was a good portrayal of the real book, not much distortion. gave me a clearer picture of the story too - think i was half asleep when reading teh book and half awake when watching the show. so that evens out. rating: watch it ONCE is enough. kc, wish u were here with us. though i think u will fall asleep, given that we were all tired and the actors talked too much.

morning, woke up bummed ard with my mum. haha bought this bright green long pants. hopefully i dare to wear it. mb when i go out with my family, which is once every 2 blue moons haha. then woke 2 books at a book sale! john grisham's The Last Juror at $7. anyone wants me to buy any books or lend u my this book?

speaking of books, haha gonna read xiong's book, followed by melon's book autographed by ajahn brahm, then my own books. thanks to xiong and melon, who valiently lend/give me the book.

then went to play badminton. i tell u. playing badminton gives butt cramps. we picked up more shuttle cocks then anything. thankfully, sj and ryan were lenient to me, siu and kc. these mean machines... and tmr i will probably get butt cramps cos we ended up playing on swings along the way to sj's house haha. i love swings! and i fancy dogs more than cats.

hung ard at sj's place. kc tried to tune sj's guitar. must tell u, kc is super funny when he is serious. he concentrates on everything he does, whether it is playing frisbee, badminton, giving road directions. and it is good. provides me comic relief. then waited for darling chris before goign to 85 to eat. she kc met woon ue. haha ultimate showdown. then went to cine lor.

qm ended yesterday. some of us went to east coast. i kinda saw my cloud castle in the distance. really. but when the skies got dark, i kinda not want to stay in the cloud castle anymore. had fun playing frisbee haha. and i got a bruise! must be from sj trying to throw me into the sea. vee and siu sat on the breakwater; me, kc, ryan and sj played frisbee and sq went cycling.

to uncle dell: called tlth koko today. we r trying to work outsth now :) i wanna see speedy!

to darling lincoln: i guess we all need a little personal space in our lives. and i respect urs :)

to sj: u have a fetish for ladies feeding u magnums. enough said.

and to wanlingx: -muackz-

to my sariputta gals: -hugz-

I'm doin' all right, getting good grades
The future's so bright
I gotta wear shades

I got a job waiting for my graduation
50 thou' and year will buy a lot of beer
Things are going great,
and they're only getting better

I'm doin' all right, getting good grades
The future's so bright I gotta wear shades
Well I'm heavenly blessed and worldly wise
I'm a peeping tom techie with x-ray eyes

Things are going great, and they're only getting better
I'm doin' all right, getting good grades
The future's so bright I gotta wear shades

happy happy vesak!
lost y voice again. i m starting to sound like alvin. that is not a good thing haha

let me start with sat. we had a good time with our games stall. my gals ended up painting nails for each other. but i believe we had fun. even the boys who came to our booth to have the balloons burst on top of their heads.

super wet day. all the water bombs were anyhow zooming in front of me. but it was appropriate during a hot day, despite the tent we had. all the "prizes" LC bought for the different houses ended up in our own stomachs haha. and yes i bought one ice cream from the exco but ended up eating three... fat fat.

and if anyone who reads my blog ever reads the newspapers, you will find that there was a vesak special on friday's Life! papers. front page was teh youth ministry from kong ming shan pks monastery. then if u flip to page 4, you will see a pic with a lot of balloons. that is SBM! SBM made it to the papers! yay! and of cos there is Buddhist Federation with Nick SHen, Mrs Angie Monksield and Ajahn Brahm.

and yes on sat, met some ppl. uncle audrick introduced me to this prof who is teaching law in smu. he taught biz law in the first semester. he was really nice and we started chatting abt profs and abt my biz law grade. oh well. wad to do. biz law is my worst subject thus far.

then we met another sir. another nice person also. well wad to do? buddhists are nice ppl. haha no la everyone is nice, regardless of race and religion. jus a matter of finding the nice part of them :)

then we packed up our stall, tidied up a bit, then went to eat macdonalds at potong pasir with alvin, zf, ernst, weijie, zhen lin, lindy, sel, coburn, denise, shi hui, vic tan. haha can u believe we took close to an hour to walk wad usualy takes only 15 min? and i m prob guilty of it. kept making ernst and weijie say sariputta STAR, mush to the annoyance of their ananda house captain alvin. managed to make vic tan say once also. lucky moGGollana house captain zf too busy to do anything haha. then stupid ernst took my cam and took nonsense pictures la. but must say they are artistic. things i would not have paid attention to, if he hadn't took pics of them.

sun was sbm day! we invited the parents of our youths to come and see wad their children are really doing every saturday in this shophouse. really glad to see coburn's mum. i m glad to know more abt dear darling coburn. and if u r reading this, u r very fortunate to have a great mum. supportive of u.bring her to sbm more! haha btw i have a great mum too :)

so HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! haha i told my mum i din get her a present. really too busy la this weekend. lucky she really very supportive of me. not get jealous kind. as long as we good good, listen to her and my granmother and my dad, can le :)

saw lincoln's mum too. she is really bubbly and nice. and lincoln, if u r reading this, i hope lionel (ur bro, not mine) can come to sariputta house! my house needs more guys! haha. then mb u all end up like lawrence and zhen feng hehe.

must say i spent a very meaningful vesak with sbm! this is the first time i spent a spiritaul vesak, yet at the same time, i had lotsa fun ( think i supposed to do more work han have fun, but anyway) got lots of ppl to thank.

mr lee zhen feng - moggollana and sariputta best frens!
my sariputta gals - 5 of us were present yay!
my sariputtians
car wash ppl led by rock and coburn - thanks for tahan-ing the hot sun, and nice to know u had fun!
house captains and vice captains - alvin for manning the song dedication booth (think i still owe u $1 haha
vic teo for leading the mini moat team
cl2 - raising the most funds
mich - for taking care of our darling house :)
mentors!!!! how can we ever forget you all
mentors and exco - thanks for sponsoring the prizes. really nice. wish i got one of ur wonderful prize hehe
zeyan - for asking me to shut up to conserve my voice haha
aunties and uncles - who made sure we were well fed, kept the otherwise messy place clean, and kept cutting fruits for us
all clean up crew. thanks for staying for yesterday's and today's candle light procession. and today for tearing down al the decoration and moving all the plants, rolling carpet, scraping candle off the table...
all sbmyians, who have made ur way here to sbm to celebrate vesak with sbm. thank you for ur contribution and we really appreciate every effort :)

must thank bhantes also. we had six bhantes with us today. impressive. i respect our resident bhante a lot. he super support our youth group. plus today our youths took quite a while to settle down. he went to open the cupboard, take his mike, start his sound system. then he went to switch on the lights for teh latterns himself. then when we were moving the plants, he din stand aside and looked on using "eye power" (that was wad me and lindy did most of teh time). he also helped us arrange. so me and dee dee felt guilty and went to help him.

then alvin and zhen feng always bullying me and dee dee. i m goign to lodge an official complaint soon. or mb i will apply witchcraft to make all their memebrs sariputta STARS! pour water on both of us. next time we go hide behind bhante and auntie and uncle :P

met auntie laura yest and today. now i know a grand total of ONE auntie! haha no la. hopefully more than that. but somehow, probably because i met her outside sbm that i feel closer to her. i met her on my way home last sunday from vesak@orchard. seeing the shirt i was wearing, she approached me and asked me whetehr i was from sbm. she was with sbm since it started in the 1980s with venerable mahinda! we talked abt buddhism, sbm, her teaching at pks, the nunnery near my place and bikkuni bodhi. very happy to see her yest and today at sbm vesak celebrations. she complimented our youth group! yay! hopefully we get to meet more often.

anyway, hope everyone has a good rest. camp ehi-passiko is coming up. and i believe we will have lots more thigns to prepare. games, and logstics. 200 paper plates. hopefully easier to do than wrapping armour. time sure flies ah... last camp i was GL...

rest well guys. drink more water, if u do not want to have a horrible voice like mine. my mum thinks my voice is horrible too. i m drinking honey water.

P.S. I miss ernst's hai2 di3 long2 xia1 (underwater lobster) hehe

Happy Vesak Day to all!
don't just tell me Vesak is a public holiday. pls read below. got test one. read already still dunno i will knock ur head. haha.

Vesak (Wesak) day is the day we celebrate the birth, enlightenment and passing on of the Buddha. and this year, there is a significant number: 2550. year 2006 marks the 2550 years since the passing on of the Buddha. The Buddha was enlightened at the age of 35 years old and entered Nirvana at the age of 80.

The Buddha's birth as Prince Siddhartha took place on this day at Lumbini in Kapilavatthu (modern Nepal).

Ascetic Siddhartha Gautama attained Supreme Enlightenment on this day at Buddha Gaya under the sacred Bodhi Tree.
Ya Buddha was an ascetic, who practiced self-mortification, before he realized that extreme paths are not means to enlightenment and that the Middle Way is.

The Supreme Buddha's Great Demise ( and entering into Parinibbana) happened on Vesak Full Moon day at Kusinara. In terms of the evolution of the Supremely Enlightened One in the course of His migrations in Samsara (Cycle of Rebirths) Vesak Full Moon possesses a tremendous significance.

alright. here i m in sch. having qm project. yc is watching some cantonese nonsense. if he knows what i m doing, he will definitely scold me. kc is now watching too. only siu doing proper work. consolidating our report.

realise I have gotten into the swing of things. swing as in things jus happen lor. got meeting jus go. meetings come and nvr stop. thank you ppl, who are probably at sbm now, preparing for vesak@orchard. wish i could be there too. but i will be there tmr. at the expense of gymming with my gym kakis. i want to go gym. go running on the treadmill. but vesak is only once a year. and i m going to shop for lucky draw prizes with dee. my time is all packed. jus go with the flow man.

tmr my qm grp is goign for qm lesson in the morning. 8.30 in the morning. how to wake up? and tmr is daddy's birthday. mb i shd wake up early, wish him a happy birthday, then prepare to come to sch. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD :)

then after qm lesson, we will prob tu a while, then finish up qm report, if can't finish tonight. if can finish, then will start on second project. after that, will go down to meet dee to buy lucky draw prizes. haven't seen u in a long while. miss u :) haha dee constantly needs tlc.

and yes this mother's day, hope my auntie and my cousins will come to my house, celebrate with us. haha they are the ones who will buy cake, noodles, while i jus provide the kiddo atmosphere and eat :) HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, to my mum, my grandmother and my aunt.

must say that as we grow up, we tend to drift further and further apart. i dunno.

uncle dell, if u r reading this, jus hope that all is well in the states. and that joan and speedy are good. will be going shanghai from 7 june to 22 june. hope it does not clash with koko's US trip. if it doesn't clash, then i may be able to go. subject to my parents' approval of cos. my dad is paying for my shanghai trip. and my genting trip in july, which i will be going with my uni frens. hope i can go US and visit ur lil veg farm :)

fri and sat will be spent at sbm. sun die die have to go for piano lesson.

have i told u that there is a big white tent on the grass patch opposite my house. was wondering if it was for pap rally. then again, no opposition wants bishan. turns out it was for vesak celebrations! i definitely want to visit there. must find time.

and i realise after qm will still be busy. haha. and life can only get busier. we all need a little time to ourselves a lot of time :)
jus a lil feeling.
have u ever felt like a doormat? my intuition can be right sometimes. tho i admit i m a bad judge of ppl. but my intuition is right sometimes.
of cos there r frens who fren me cos of who i m. thanks. but sometimes, no need to weave stories. anyway, jus a lil feeling. inconsequential. not as bad as the last time. time to get busy before i go head into having fun.
back from a long day at school

had lunch with mama. haven't had a meal with mama in a long while. think i have been having meals outside with my frens more than I have eaten with my parents these past few months. we went to novena to eat yong tau foo haha. k la. it is teh company that counts.

then went to sch early to study some qm with siu before our qm proj meeting starts. talked to rock over the phone. rock, if you are reading this, thanks for ur concern for my brother. and ur encouragement. sometimes, presence alone is sufficient, if u understand wad i mean. no need to say much.

had project meeting. very silent one. everyone was doing their part for the project. think we got some stuff done, if not most. tmr meeting again. let's band together, jiayou and get this first project over okie? second project sounds so much more fun :) and everyone, pls wish US good luck for tmr's qm quiz. again. argh.

jus wanna say that sometimes, we tend to wear our feelings and emotions on our sleeves, whetehr we are tired or sad or angry or stressed. don't let it affect us okie? understand why he or she is feeling like that and try to influence the person with our optimism. don't get dragged down. remember in jc, we used to say instead of letting others drag us down, let's drag everyone up. will always remember those words.

then had sbm meeting with mich, zf and vic teo. probably spent half the time talking abt vesak@orchard. it was certainly a memorable experience. mb if i learn how to skate now, i could skate along orchard road next vesak...

vesak (Wesak) day is the day we celebrate the birth, enlightenment and passing on of the Buddha. and this year, there is a significant number: 2550. no please don't buy 4D. 2550 marks the 2550 years since the passing on of the Buddha. The Buddha was enlightened at the age of 35 years old and entered Nirvana at the age of 80. yup do the math.

everything is piling up now. jus wanna thank all my frens who are always there for me. listening to my rambling. sometimes a lil encouragement goes a long way. so do give encouragement freely haha. can be like me liddat, everyone to me is nice. and now ppl do not want me to say that they are nice. wadever.

and i proclaim i m a fan of this blog: www.jusanotherblogger.blogspot.com. this bugger's blog. make me laugh so hard.

SATURDAY
i m back. and tired. but i don't deserve to be tired as i think there are more ppl who are more tired than i m.

back from the much anticipated vesak@ orchard 2006. was there at 8am. too bad it was raining early in the morning. however, it was a good sign as it din rain in the afternoon.

We tried to pack all our members into a small white tent. some of us were blowing balloons (with helium :)) ryan was giving out t-shirts and our members were going an and out to change into their shirts. eventually, when the rain lightened, we stood in the drizzle and practised our cheers and formation. must say that for early on a sat morning, our members were pretty enthusiastic, energetic.

time flew really quickly and soon, we were in the performance tent performing our cheers. then out of nowhere security and the police came. then president nathan and his wife came and stopped to listen to our cheers. he gave us the thumbs-up sign and shook our hands! haha. vic teo din want to wash his hands after that - dirty... then saw kym ng too, who is lady compassion for vesak@orchard 2006.

after that, the sun was scorching and we went along orchard with our placards and banners which were printed with words. my favourite quote was : we meditate not to go to heaven, but to end suffering. -Buddha" there were so many nice quotes i can't recall all of them now. but i must say the placards were nicely done. however, as iw as walking along, i could see some passer-bys trying to read our placards, but cos we were on the move, and sometimes trying to walk faster to cross the road or close the gap, they could not exactly read the words. however, i believe our bright placards and balloons did bring some attention and publicity to attract more members of the public to visit ngee ann civic plaza.

we came back for lunch. slacked ard. then my smu frens came! parlin was with us since morning. then came viny, honghan, kechang, siu, kevin, ryan! they also sportingly put on their placards, tied ballons (on kc) and carried banners. it was fun being with them. i hope you guys had fun too.

i guess i had fun today, cos i haven't been able to stand in the sun, shout myself hoarse, do silly yet fun things like cheers, kallang wave... this is wad i love abt sbm. the spontaneity. dynamism. enthusiasm. simply oozes.

after that, we were dismissed, everyone tired but happy and satisfied. went for dinner with smu ppl. sq came to join us. met sj and ivy for a brief short while. they all went to eat somemore i presume. while i came home, typing this right now.

need to thank many many ppl:
1. sariputtians
thanks for turning up today! even though our attendance was the smallest , which made it kinda a challenge when we had to cheer the line: sariputta shake it shake shake shake it up!, we still did our best and i am very proud of you. keep it up!

2. anandians, kassapians and mongollana-es
thanks for helping us out in everyway possible. from cheering to ... cheering :)

3. the 5 tigers plus exco
thanks thanks for everything. enuff said.

4. smubs
hope you guys had fun, whether cheering, dancing, singing, playing with balloons. it was a memorable experience spending vesak with u :) ur presence was much appreciated. and if u came because of our friendship, to support me, i sincerely wish to thank you.

lastly, i hope we will have another fun day tmr. and that we will reach out to more ppl tmr. mb tmr i will go ard and see the stupa, take pic of the buddha statues and take pics with all my sbmyians!

and of cos, our own sbm vesak day celebrations this friday, 12 may :)

Thursday, May 04, 2006

today, i felt like i did a lot of things, even tho i prob did nothing. and it is good to keep my mind on many things, rather than brood and worry over wad i m in for the horribly near future.

had qm mtg in the morning. must say cos today everyone was more tired, we had less energy to quarrel and channel our energy to work. more productive surprisingly! actually, it was just me and yaocong quarreling la haha. he is getting on my nerves seriously (i hope u r reading this haha) no la. quarrels make projects more fun mah ;P

then we went to national library. as usual, siu attacked the cosmetics/beauty section first. sq borrowed like a mountain of books and he carried them around like the leaning tower of pisa. ryan is rading wild swans now. haha guess wat? mr yc was stuck in the comics section HAHA. well i was stuck there for a while. my fav: garfield and baby blues. a lot more la. i din see, like tintin. and i shall start reading the chronicles of narnia! after qm.

everything also after qm. procrastinate.

went for my first meeting for my Shanghai trip. I will be going to shanghai for 2 weeks in june. today was the first meeting i attended. quite interesting. we started teh meeting with ice breakers games. actually wat was more interesting was the person ic sharing with us her previous experiences. i think i will really miss home this time. apparently, the toilets in the rural areas are probably out of my imagination and beyond my description/vocab currently. besidesthat, we will be staying in a hostel, where 2 to 3 persons will stay in a room with toilets with proper flush, but NO HOT WATER!!!! how to bathe?

haha i m getting amused at how i m beginning to withdraw from the trip. yet i want to go. i believe eventually i will go.

this year is an interesting year. ISP shanghai. world cup. sg elections. hope i won't miss much of world cup cos of shanghai. and i m missing this sg elections cos of qm. and the next world cup will not come till another 4 years. probably i will be working already. and teh next elections will not come till i m working. and i jus wanna attend ONE rally. jus one. by any party. i guess that will not be fulfilled till teh next elections. by which, i will have no time to go listen to the rally.

pls. just let me listen to ONE rally.

and after shanghai, is genting trip. hopefully they have hot water to bathe in at genting. and better toilet conditions.

and of cos not forgetting Camp ehi-passiko prequel. haha no worries. no clash between CEP and shanghai trip :)

and that is all for now. tmr will be another intersting day. as i recount more of my shanghai trip to all u peeps reading now haha

Wednesday, May 03, 2006

jus had dinner with my sariputta gals. miss u gals like crazy. and i apologise if i haven't been able to keep up with ur lives. too bad darling dee could not make it and had to call us when our mudpie came.

miss those times when we could meet up every week (and dress up really nicely, at the request of darling dee). we jus eat non-stop, order too many dishes and pass our food around and share our food. we could meet up as and when we wanted, to discuss abt spiritual count-down. we got to know a lot more abt each other, and our friendship grew exponentially.

hope we will have more outings to come. after our exams. chalet for dee after exams?

and yes, sometimes it is good to seek perfection. but when teh pursuit for perfection gives too much pressure, it is good to take a step back and think about what is our purpose in pursueing the perfection. need not be perfect, as long as we have put in effort (and subject ourselves to reasonable stress). life will look brighter through an optimistic lens. wipe the tears, cheer up, and we will be there for u! =)

Tuesday, May 02, 2006

today is qm quiz. later. in 2 hours.
think over the weekend i was struck by how hectic this week and next week is gonna be, given that it is Vesak celebrations :) will be meeting my smubs Sariputtians for the whole of sat and sun. plus QM. i shd not take it lightly as a holiday class as it contributes towards my gpa like a normal module. but like wad xiong said, i can't get down to studying prob because it is teh hols and i m not relaxing when i shd be. but anyway, thanks to xiong and alvin who asked me to persevere on since i chose to do it :)

lil eugene from sariputta msg me today. very sweet of him. haha guys in sariputta house all very sweet. hope he is getting along well man. haven't seen some sariputtians for a long time. understand it is teh exams and all. hopefully vesak is a reunion for many of us. will definitely talk to them soon. need to startwith my own gals :)

jus a word of thanks to my frens who are there when i m a lil down. no big deal la. not like teh end of the world. no good to go into roller coaster mood. but thanks for being there.

wish me luck for qm quiz! loadsa luck!

Monday, May 01, 2006

been getting out of my study table. can't get down to studying. too many distractions. been visiting my com, my handphone. attention span is probably less than an hour. before i go to the kithen to rummage for some food. or come chat on msn. argh. where is the discipline? tmr's quiz is important, given that there are only 3 quizzes and tehy make up 50% of my grades. but i jus can't get down to studying! argh!
