SATURDAY
i m back. and tired. but i don't deserve to be tired as i think there are more ppl who are more tired than i m.
back from the much anticipated vesak@ orchard 2006. was there at 8am. too bad it was raining early in the morning. however, it was a good sign as it din rain in the afternoon.
We tried to pack all our members into a small white tent. some of us were blowing balloons (with helium :)) ryan was giving out t-shirts and our members were going an and out to change into their shirts. eventually, when the rain lightened, we stood in the drizzle and practised our cheers and formation. must say that for early on a sat morning, our members were pretty enthusiastic, energetic.
time flew really quickly and soon, we were in the performance tent performing our cheers. then out of nowhere security and the police came. then president nathan and his wife came and stopped to listen to our cheers. he gave us the thumbs-up sign and shook our hands! haha. vic teo din want to wash his hands after that - dirty... then saw kym ng too, who is lady compassion for vesak@orchard 2006.
after that, the sun was scorching and we went along orchard with our placards and banners which were printed with words. my favourite quote was : we meditate not to go to heaven, but to end suffering. -Buddha" there were so many nice quotes i can't recall all of them now. but i must say the placards were nicely done. however, as iw as walking along, i could see some passer-bys trying to read our placards, but cos we were on the move, and sometimes trying to walk faster to cross the road or close the gap, they could not exactly read the words. however, i believe our bright placards and balloons did bring some attention and publicity to attract more members of the public to visit ngee ann civic plaza.
we came back for lunch. slacked ard. then my smu frens came! parlin was with us since morning. then came viny, honghan, kechang, siu, kevin, ryan! they also sportingly put on their placards, tied ballons (on kc) and carried banners. it was fun being with them. i hope you guys had fun too.
i guess i had fun today, cos i haven't been able to stand in the sun, shout myself hoarse, do silly yet fun things like cheers, kallang wave... this is wad i love abt sbm. the spontaneity. dynamism. enthusiasm. simply oozes.
after that, we were dismissed, everyone tired but happy and satisfied. went for dinner with smu ppl. sq came to join us. met sj and ivy for a brief short while. they all went to eat somemore i presume. while i came home, typing this right now.
